  1. Monolith, now there's a name I haven't seen in a while... Welcome back. Ditchhobo, have a read of the stuff here, and see if your problems make any more sense. The TT system is an odd one to say the least! Twin Turbo Operation: http://www.veloce.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Twin%20Turbo%20Operation/ttopprt2.htm Main page: http://www.veloce.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Except it has that damn CEL. I am truly stumped on that one, first time a car's done that to me after doing one of those controllers!
  2. And the GT30, and the RS30 The issue with the EZ30R is that it's tough to get an ECU for em, due to the immobilisation shit they stuck in em, so 30R's tend to get paired with links, on this club at least. The EZ30D is a much easier conversion pretty much. Well, that's about as much as i know.
  3. Real men work any where, any time. At least it's level, and the steet is quiet/wide, so it's really no bother. The only annoying thing is the stones all over the ground.
  4. Lol, hello. I made that wiring diagram. I should point out that it's more or less a guess, and the subject of dwell timing was indeed brought up with it. I eventually decided to give up trying to be helpful and be thankful i run an ECU that only has 2 igntion outputs I.e. My official line is don't copy that diagram! I should actually probably take it down off photobucket... It's very likely not the best way of doing things.
  5. You don't require full power, or even full throttle in rush hour traffic, so null point (Unless you have mods and an engine that is leading to det problems in traffic)... My experience with my top mount is that it's been cool to the touch, even when the engine is stonking hot, after any cruise, and that's with a teeny tiny legacy scoop, and a VF39 with no heatsheilds. My take on it, is only bother with one when it becomes necessary. Too many people slap em on a stock car cause they look good... which is totally pointless IMHO. More than that i can't say, i've not had any experience with FMICs. edit: "I think i'll stay with the tmic, and use the money for a Link and a tune" Good man! that's what I like to see.
  6. Factory and internet figures are almost ALWAYS measured at the crank. A dyno obviously is measured at the wheels. So factory figure don't take into account drivetrain loss. Simple as that. And i think it was also pointed out, that not all WRX's and STi's are 206KW from factory. The V1/2's had far less power from factory. Also you have things like GTB's, from factory for the BG there's 2 figures, 190KW, and 206kw. This is cause auto's had the 190KW EJ20H, and manuals the 206KW EJ20R for example. And on the OT, my GTB is smack on 3000 at 105, not 100. Just thought i'd correct yah funky.
  7. Nice, from exactly the same spot too! haha. My phone has a panorama mode too, but i don't use it, you get far better results shooting normal shots and using photoshop. I'm pretty lucky to have a copy of photoshop though, shits expensive. Yay for graphic designer dads! And yeah i did a cameraphone handheld HDR, photoshop is da bomb. Personally i don't like how it came out, but others may.
  8. Swapped my up-pipe.... God what a cunt of a job.... Oh well, I have boost again at least! That leak in the old one was a big sucker. And no more heatsheild rattle either, eeeeexcelent.
  9. You know what i found with the heater controls down in QT during winter... They have a hard time coping... Say it's a lovely 5º outside, and inside the car. If you stick the heater to one notch above it's coldest setting; 18.5º, it blast super hot air at you to try raise the temp up to, well, 18.5º. But if you got one notch down, to it's coolest setting, it blasts ice cold air at yah, as it realises you want the coldest setting possible!! So basically your two options on cold days are "zomg hot" or "frost bite cold". Awesome. Made me want good ol manual control again!
  10. Hmm, i don't know what a traditional panorama is supposed to look like lol. Here's one to shock, while in auckland i payed a visit to strong for subaru. Got BG's? And i couldn't be arse doing a good stitch, so ignore the seams.
  11. Oh that came out real nice. I love playing with DSLR's. Can't wait till i have my own.
  12. Eeeeeeexcelent. Those are stunning... especially the cloud in the last one, wow... And lol, i'm doing this on a 7 year old G5 man, it does have a bit of a fun time (took about 15-20 mins to do the stitch with that script (Then again, i'm dealing with 5MP, not 15 )). I can't wait till i get a DSLR to make the most out of this beautiful country.
  13. So i was messing round with photoshop, and found the panorama thingie; auto align layers. It's a fantastic fantastic tool, and i've become addicted. Here's some i've done. The big ugly one took 24 photo's to make!! Click pics for their full res. The road out to Kelvin Heights. Coronet peak Skippers Canyon, this one took 24 photo's!! Photoshop's the business. From Queenstown Hill, 160º fov Details: Sony Ericsson Cybershot C903 5MP - camera phone! Edited in Photoshop CS3 Settings; Auto, as there is no other settings on the phone! (Makes it a prick to colour match with all the different white balances and exposures. Thankfully photoshops the business.)
  14. Why don't you just do a hub conversion?
  15. "Due to their design, boxer motors don't dissipate heat as well as an inline." I got to this and stopped reading. Porsche will still making air cooled boxers till 1997 FFS. 400hp twin turbo air cooled boxer no less, according to wiki.
  16. Um... from working on cars with problems? I'm going to guess it's not 'none have never failed', but instead, 'none have ever come back to me'. Because surely you're a subaru mechanic if you've fitted "a hundred" aftermarket pumps. I'm no mechanic, but i have worked on a few subies. And to date, i've probably come accross 3 or 4 failed aftermarket pumps. From my "small sample size" that's enough for me to take the hard line against going cheap on these parts.
  17. I had a funny case similar to this ealier in the week. Chef #2 at work had a 95 brighton, cranked and cranked, but wouldn't start. Turns out the park switch is getting old, cycling it through the gears usually gets it to work.
  18. I'm curious at how you're going to go about the ECU side of things. 96-98 Auto Legacy's are unique in the subaru world, as they have the TCU intergrated into the ECU, and use a 1-Plug loom to sweeten the deal (so you can't change them without a massive re-pinning f*** of a job). Are you just going to ignore that beast and see how it runs on the auto ECU? Again, I'm curious to see how it pans out.
  19. Ditto. ONLY buy genuine when it comes to the cambelt/idlers/tensioners/waterpump, these are things you don't want failing, and believe me, they can f***ing fail if you skimp and go aftermarket. I've seen far too many f***ed aftermarket pumps. Oh, just to be painfully obvious, yes, you need to do the water pump while you're at it.
  20. Gotta love leaving the starter ground off too. Go to crank... nothing... f***, always the f***ing starter ground The other i've done more than once is getting the fuel lines in and out mixed, that's my fault for not clearly marking the split rail hoses before putting the engine in though, lol. Also had an auto crank, but not fire. Turned out to be a bung park switch, cycling it through the gears usually got it working. In other words, there's a million f*ing things that can stop a car from starting. Just dig into it, check everything.
  21. Fuck, don't we all thought. cue perrin H6 turbo:
