  1. Cheers guys. If I get aftermarket rims in the future, it sounds like Arrow is worth it, but probably not worth forking out for on factory rims in this situation. The calculus is if it's only one wheel that is buggered (which appears to be the case) and I can it done pretty cheaply, I'm better off doing that then buying new wheels. If it's more than one wheel that needs work to fix my wobble, I'll just put the money towards new wheels So I'll give WRS a whirl if I go down this route.
  2. On a quick search, people rate Arrow Wheels in Kelston. I'm in Avondale so it's not too inconvenient, but I drive past Wheel Repair Services (WRS) everyday on my way to work, so it is super convenient... anyone had an experience with them? I'm guessing it's a relatively simple repair as the buckling in my wheel (assuming that is the problem and it isn't a dud tyre) isn't obvious on a visual inspection.
  3. Blacked out the touroiseshell trim around the stereo
  4. Stop teasing and tell us what was in the toasted sandwich....
  5. On a related note, I got a band expander for my BP that used the plugs in the latter link and from memory I didn't need to wire it a power source whereas when I put a band expander in my BH wagon it had a separate power wire which I needed to tap into the the power line going to the HU. This is the band expander I used: https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/subaru/935/14mhz-subaru-2005-on-band-expander/154139/detail Obviously you don't need a band expander, but this is consistent with the Subaru specific plugs being needed to power the aerial.
  6. only problem is he is in hospital at the moment....
  7. What is the consensus on who to get to tune a 3.0R? Sounds like people have had bad experiences recently with Throttlehappy (taking months to finish tune etc..I see on FB he is sick anyway). People online seem to like XRT from Barbados. Or take it to DTech in Tauranga? Personally leaning towards an e-tune given it's my daily and I drive like a nana and won't be doing any mechanical mods... Still need to get the PAK file done too as I have an auto.
  8. Just dipped the middle wing as trial, turned out great
  9. Haha,I was looking at this tonight and got the top clips undone but couldn't work out how to detach the bottom...Will put my back into it tomorrow morning now that I know there are no screws at the bottom!
  10. Did you guys pull the grill out to spray it? On a quick google I'm not finding any easy walkthroughs. Or is it so simple that a walk through is pointless? I haven't had a look to try and figure it out...will have a go tomorrow morning. Mine's pre-facelift.
  11. Auckland is a long way to go from Wellington:p
  12. My car won't be going anywhere near a track and I drive like nana, so I think they would have been fit for purpose for my needs:) As you say, someone who drives more spirited than I do and occasionally goes on the track will have different needs.
  13. @V7STI1992 Did you plastidip it or sand it back and re-spray?
  14. What sort of modifications are we talking? I notice you have some facelift grilles on TM...wondering what would be involved in putting it on my pre-facelift 3.0R...
  15. Having bought two cars in the last year and gotten a few inspections done, thought I would give my two cents on the people I have used. Have also used AA/VTNZ in the past who have definitely missed things, guessing quality varies site to site. Onsite at Turners http://www.prepurchasecheck.co.nz/ I used these guys to do an inspection on a car I bought from Turners. Missed a rocker cover gasket leak despite me specifically asking about it and the Turners condition report saying the oil was low. Also missed a leaking power steering pump, screwed brake rotors and some bushings that were gone. I can forgive the leaks, as I wouldn't be surprised if they had been cleaned up and weren't apparent until the car was driven, but I noticed the brakes were screwed the first time I drove it. Would not trade again. Carl @ incar automotive http://www.incarautomotive.co.nz/ Carl is mobile mechanic who I have used to do a few inspections since I have a desk job and a baby, so traversing Auckland to look at cars can be difficult. Plus it simplifies things with the current owner since they don't need to take the car anywhere (e.g. VTNZ/AA). He is old school but does a thorough job and sends pics of everything. From memory, on my wife's car he picked up everything that AJ did when I took it to him to get the work done. Based on his reports I didn't buy two cars I looked at before buying my current car. Would trade again. AJ @ @Subirex Automotive Just take the car to him in the first place if you can, knows Subarus inside and out:)
  16. haha, if I was I wouldn't have posted that pic:)
  17. Having a passing interest in GIS data/maps and having done a bit of work in the electricity industry helps:)
  18. I think I just worked out where it is by looking at map of the electricity transmission network....
  19. Would the bigger shocks also a weigh a bit more?
