  1. Hi has anyone got a list of holset turbos with specifications, I've searched but can't find any info. I.e sizes of:. Comp- inducer, exducer, trim, ar and turbine - inducer, exducer and trim. Im looking to change my Garlett turbo for a holset, currently running gtx3071r. Want to see if I should change manufacturer or just go gtx3576r instead. Churs
  2. As evowrx says it's not that hard, use 2l crank with normal rods but specific Pistons for this setup in 2.5 block, this limits your options to which brand you use, same for stroking 2l using 2.5l crank, to give 2.135 I believe, depending on oversize Pistons used. All major websites will stock the type you need but not all brands will do them or there will be delays in getting them. I have only only ever used 2l was going to stroke it using 2.5 crank etc but meant I had to change a lot more stuff to do this. The cnc inserted ej20 is stronger from my research with regards to less cylinder cracks seen when running higher boost. Even outfront motorsports engines have reported cylinder wall crack at top on ej25 block when running the insert, due to the block having more flex, though the newer design is better. Personally I prefer the driving characteristics of the ej20 over the ej25 on track. All the guys I know racing subis here prefer to use the ej20. I have enough support to build the ej20 to get where I want to get too ( stud conversion, cdb with insert, Doweled etc) , so I prefer this choice. If budget is an issue then bigger displacement would be better and just build the ej25 block. Displacement is not always the answer though as proven by the destroked mental Evo below.
  3. No doubt there are and there's nothing wrong with them for making power. But when both gobstoppers run modified 2L blocks from a company that could build anything they wanted, you have to ask why. Personally I would stick to ej20 but everyone has their own opinion and preferances, both blocks will do what you want with enough money.
  4. At that boost level I would close deck them, you can get it done if you know where to go. There's a ej25 on trade me cdb using cnc insert. I would use arp 625 bolts at least, fully forged, which parts you use is best done with your own research. Personally I went ej20 route and not ej25 just for the nature of the block. You can make that power on both blocks and ez30 have their own problems. Every uk motor builder I spoke to, RCM, AS performance etc didn't recommend destroking the ej25.
  5. 30k, that's awesome, and that's encouraging. the 28psi is going strong still so I suspect it's fully forged too. Txs. Cool, I'm surprised a standard block can handle that boost fine. I've just calculated the efficiency of my turbo and at the current setup I'm bang in the most efficient zone at 25 psi, my new set up is going to mean I have to go two sizes bigger in the garret range, if I want to keep the efficiency where it is. I think I'm going to sell mine and contact Steve Murch to get local service and match the turbo to the engines air flow rate.
  6. Thats impressive on standard block, glad to see it can take it. Great info and good to read, head studs in that engine is that 14 mm stud conversion or just arp 2000 factory size? Your old car what rods were they and how long did it last at 33 psi? just road driven or raced? Churs Im looking at going to 30-32psi on my build, I imported some case halfs with cnc insert to make it a cdb block and oil gallery mods but not stud conversion, going high tensile 625 arp instead. Going to over engineer it with 1000hp capable Carrillo rods I'm paranoid I'll stick a rod through the block and don't want to fork out for one again.
  7. Anyone running fairly high boost levels on your Subaru, say above 25psi? I'm interested see what internals youre running and at what boost levels. Just to see how well the block takes it. churs
  8. I still own a Subaru, I wouldn't want fwd as a race car, will stick to awd for that.
  9. I went shopping for a new daily 6 months ago and it came down to a 2010 sti or a gen 2 mps a NZ new car. After test driving both, I choose the mps, it was basically a far nicer car inside and out and yes that means I choose a FWD over AWD. The Subaru really felt cheap compared to it. A mate of mine also bought one around the same time and he too choose the mps over the Subaru.
  10. Info found please delete
  11. I received my parking pass in the mail today and as I'm RD address would imagine I'm late getting it, so check your physical mail box. Should be there soon if not already.
  12. ok thanks, I will contact them when mine comes up for renewal.
  13. Do they do agreed value? And if they do have you got to get the car valued?
  14. Are there any videos of it running, would love to hear it.
  15. For the prices pbms charge, I would just take it to dtech, you will save the 150 dollars you pay on petrol, I am very confident about that. They don't just tune hondas there's another shop there renowned for that, it's not dtech. All I would say is, they brought the Chilean guy over at great expense, in all honesty who do you think ends up paying for that? Santaclaus? I think not, the people getting the cars tuned.
  16. Yep 7 posts in total, I must live on this forum. I only came on to check I'm not missing info on the Leadfoot comp as it did make me check my junk mail and the email I received was there, so I owe a thanks for that, eitherwise I would have missed it. I did try to help a guy out who's going through cert process too, hence the huge post count. No worries though I wouldn't want to offend, and I only stated I don't want the car linked here.
  17. No not mine, But what difference does it make what wheels are on it, plenty of people run fake wheels.
  18. I did not link it on here, and for my own reasons do not wish it to be linked with this forum. If you're on your way to leadfoot it will stand out but at the end of the day it's just another Subaru.
  19. Oh ok I did misunderstand. my car did start out as a WRX. I do understand why the engine converted cars, sr20det etc were kicked and in all reality there is no way in hell they weren't going to include the most iconic Subaru, but I don't really get the pedanticness around the WRX title, especially if they were modified to a high standard.
  20. I'm probably miss understanding your point on this but My car would have to be one of, if not the most modified car in that comp and it got in. It does still have all Subaru running gear just from a much newer model.
