Another thing that popped into my mind this arvo was whether we need a fire extinguisher with approved mounting for the track day? Or are these kinda days deemed casual enough to not be required?
Hope it's not required, I already have to buy an helmet and an overall
In Europe I was going to trackdays in shorts and T-shirt, only the helmet was mandatory...I even drove a few mates' convertibles with the top down and no roll cage, but I wouldn't recommend doing that though

Errr still unsure about that, its turning into a busy week but might make it down for just the Sunday track day.
Would be great if you can do it, I'm curious about how your wide tyres compare to light weight/small wheels on the track
Plus it would be a lot more fun with at least 2 outbacks on the track!

I also need to do some more guard work so it stops rubbing on hard cornering.

Same here, received the letter today.
I am secretly hoping that the airbag has to be changed on mine and that they will break the dashboard when dismounting it. This way I could say bye bye to this cracked and sticky dashboard and get a new one

If someone is going from Auckland, so am I. I was just going to fly down to Welly and @chulozumo was gonna pick me up and he's gonna take his RA-R while I take his Gravex. But if someone wants to drive down I don't mind sharing fuel costs.
We will be at least 4 travelling together from Auckland.
@1randomkiwi and me are going for sure
@A_J_T and @JGM are also going, they just don't know it yet
So you'll get to pick the car you want or change cars every 200km

Ehhh I hadn't planned on it... I certainly wouldn't have the Outback on track but tossing up the Saturday lunch and karting.
You should come to the lunch and karting! And you can always come at the track the day after to watch, talk and have fun as a passenger if you feel like it

That remains to be proven. All I've done that makes a difference is throw in a RSB and lighter wheels. You have brembos and wider tyres which could give you more lateral grip.
You don't need modifications to have fun, track days are always fun
(and yes I am going to the track, keen to see what the heavy Outback can do there)

Yep, all good, no stickiness. Same cracks are still there (i've filled some with sugru www.sugru.com) and placed a pinhole at the end of one to stop it growing. I try to throw up the windscreen shade when it's out in the sun for a while. Dash has remained sticky-free so I'm well impressed with that product.
Could you post a picture of the cracks you filled with sugru?
I was thinking of doing that but it doesn't look easy to get a clean result with that thing. I'm afraid that it might end up looking worst than the cracks if I don't do it properly.

Was planning to pay this week but I need to buy 4 new tyres ($$$)...
But I'm definitely coming to the Tui Lunch, the karting challenge (even if I suck at go karts) and the track day (hopefully will do better on the track).
@A_J_T You coming as well? Would love to see your Outback on the track

Bugger, feel your pain after the same thing happened to me recently! Make sure to buy tyre insurance with your new set!
Hmm, I usually avoid these kind of insurances but at the same time this never happened to me before so I'll give it a thought. How much were you charged for the insurance?

#\!&?!
Went to a tyre shop, apparently the sidewall is damaged... looks like I'm good to change the 4 tyres...

we are almost exactly a month out now... and we simply dont have the numbers.
If you want to come but havnt committed... now is the time, or we run a real risk of cancelling. How many ppl do we need?

I will probably commit next week, trying to sort out what I need to buy for the track day first.
Is it all good if I come with a 100% cotton long sleeve T-shirt and jeans or do I really need some kind of racing overall?
Any tips as to where I can buy a helmet for cheap?

I spent a lot of time working out the best mods for the 3.0R when I had it.
By far the best to start with is an ECU remap.
The more I read that, the more I'm thinking that I should get an ECU remap ...
Still have to get the TCU updated first

They were only $50 so I thought why not try them, think I’ll give them another week then maybe swap them backThat's a really good price indeed!
Ooor .. other solution ... you need 2 cars : one with leather seats for traffic jam and a backroad/track car without

Swapped over to the leather front seats for comfort but now can’t have fun in the twisties so might chuck the wrx seats back in, do like the comfort though
Yeah that's the annoying thing with leather seats, I would like leather seats but I'm pretty sure I would regret my choice because of that if I get them

The CV boots were split when I bought my BPE and I got Subtech to replace just the boots, cost me $300 for both IIRC.

@delta I can't remember whether you had swapped your bump stops or not?
Yeah, I did swap them quickly after installing my shock absorbers. I was hitting the Outback bump stops when turning quickly in roundabouts, which was annoying and destabilising the car.
They were a PITA to unscrew though!

That's making it even more interesting! Let's show all these slow Legacys how it should to be done!
I'm waiting a little more before committing as I might be abroad at that time, need to be sure I can come first.

Yeah the BPE is awesome on the sand. I went on 99mile beach (or whatever it's called) before lowering mine, worked like a charm
Any difficulties at your current height? I'm feeling less confident to bring mine on soft sand now that it's lowered.
