Lol repco wanted $220 for the turbo gasket kit where trademe has exact same kit for $165 so the guy called someone and then said nah its all sweet and he gave it to me for $160. Usually they must make a S*** ton of money if he can just drop off $60 no worries. Pays to do research online first aye..

Wow, I took off his intercooler and found nothing but a bunch of oil (from stuffed turbo). I got some pics here but damn the engine must have taken a beating if its been munching on all this oil... Could it have done much damage or will it be fine? Its driven around 45-60min with stuffed turbo and drunk a couple liters of oil iirc. Is this normal for buggered turbo and will it be all good once its fixed? Thanks to @sobanoodle I have a VF45 to put on. Inside intercooler: elbow from turbo to intercooler. Tipped up intercooler for 15 mins and this came out lol. lmk ur thoughts lol

Should I drain oil and coolant? I would rather not do this but some people say do to it. Its not my car so dont wanna be mucking around with oil and coolant changes if possible. Do I have to fully remove the downpipe or just unbolt from turbo? and oh S***... do I need gaskets? @boon any idea what size copper washers I need for the banjo bolts?

Whats the difference between the VF38 and 44-45? So they can just bolt in and its all good?

My mate has a 2003 BP5 wagon (automatic) and has just blown his turbo. He wants to replace with second hand turbo. What turbo does these have and where should I go or what should I do to make sure its a good second hand turbo and he doesn't wanna spend too much $$$. Ill prolly install it for him coz I wanna do a turbo Do Autos blow their turbos more often than manuals or is that BS?

Yeah Pete has to make room for Jeff... You can unbolt Pete from where its attached to in the grill area and u can actually just push Pete down carefully, keep an eye just to make sure its all good, I did that and worked fine. Then I just made something up to hold it down. Decent cable ties prolly do the job. Pete doesn't mind hanging out behind the bumper out of the path of flies.

idk much either but that power curve looks pretty solid. I imagine those rwd cars must be pretty light too. All engines are different so some cars can get huge gains with a few mods. I dont know a lot about SRs tho.

15psi is pretty low for the VF30, Sti's take 18psi stock. I assume its a non sti right? 15psi at 4600 is pretty laggy. After the tune I get 15psi at 3700rpm and keeps going up slowly till 22.6psi.

Didnt mean you specifically when I said most people. Yeah I get that. Prolly just a cylinder/ring thats causing that issue, you said to get it rebuilt/freshened up which is fine but I rather not do that unless it costs nothing or NEEDS a rebuild. Why not just get bigger turbo and and if I make 210 then cool, It would probably die sooner but then do a rebuild and make way more power on new engine. I dont wanna rebuild a 'good' engine. Tuner suggested that to me actually.

190kw Some people here thinks I should not get a stock location turbo for various reasons but I see lots of people with TD05s that are very happy them and especially as I not looking for huge power right now I dont see why I need to spend 4k on twisted setup. Im listening to both sides so Im still undecided, probably just gonna wait for now and see what happends. Didnt your mate buy that turbo?

lol thats quicker spool than my VF30. 22.6psi at 4650. Was your Td05 Kinugawa stock location and would you recommend one over a vf considering the cost.
