  1. Ignore post, found cheapish fix.
  2. So although I'm pretty keen on fender flares and wider wheels, just how stuffed would my suspension geometry get? Www.fiberglassmafia.com look to have some great options! But... at a cost? What might the cost, if any be? Strange handling and quicker wearing bearings or something? Not looking at wheels wider than 9.5" wide, and might need adjustable suspension with a cert. Opinions or experiences anyone?
  3. @Invisible Love the shots where you're camping and at the beach. What our cars are made for!
  4. I thought the appeal of Honda was their N/A engines made good power in the high-end and were low cost, lightweight momentum racers. If they are now turbo what makes them different from other cars?
  5. So very sick, so thought I'd read up on random topics to gain an appreciation of the hard work and thought that goes into making an engine tick over smoothly. http://www.enginebuildermag.com/2013/11/maintaining-your-balance-engine-building-tips-to-reduce-nvh-and-increase-life/ Never thought about just how changing a few components could have such an effect. Everything is a system.
  6. Mmm. Although more things to go wrong and check on perhaps later a separate turbo oil system is prudent. Could run different oils if temps between the two systems varies instead of a "one temperature fits all"
  7. Great point! It's the flat, reliable power curve enabler. I already knew FMIC was clearly superior, but wasn't aware of just by how much. Also, seems like the hot side of the engine is the only part good for wrapping. That and air flow is king in cooling. Hence perhaps also an uncluttered engine bay. Heat shield good too then? And when @Munkvy was saying radiator I was thinking IC. That's a good, separate piece altogether?! If a turbo is oil and water cooled, then a radiator would take care of the water cooled aspect, right? Learnt a bit more here so far than I did lurking in Naisoc and Ozfoz.
  8. 200rpm is hefty, I'd chase that over a small increase in peak power. (Autocorrect just tried to change that to "potato power" )
  9. So two votes for a shroud around the IC to funnel air onto the fins if I'm understanding properly.
  10. Okay, you got me. It was a dad joke (I've also recently ordered a "because, familycar" sticker in gold) Okay, so I heard +1 for steel pipes, coated and wrapped. Did you know there is a product you can apply internally to the pipe as well as the usual external coating? Double protection from radiated heat with an external coating. Sounds like it might mess with the rate of air in the pipe though so I'd not like to be the guinea pig for that one.
  11. Yeah, the consensus is to go FMIC, but was looking to try keep the stock TMIC a while longer and perform best practice with what I've got. Then when I eventually join the FMIC "cool" club I'll have the rest of the heat sources already mitigated or minimised.
  12. Since I'm looking to keep my IC top mount, was wondering what members have done to reduce heat in the engine bay (not talking about temp of air into engine but rather keeping the 'bay "cool") What you found good bang for buck, personal experience etc. (I have googled and have my own thoughts but socialising this kind of stuff is usually intetesting.)
  13. These vids... while not timid I don't even want to drive that fast. Reckon they had their adrenal glands mistakenly removed during their appendix surgery (140 heart beats a minute almost seems relaxed)
  14. Edited topic and tags as realised post might be misleading if people were "up with the play" on current isle of man times for cars. @Subru more to the point he could live really far out of the city and still have the 20min commute 🙃
  15. Subaru does the isle of Mann flat out for the full 20 minutes Such great scenery, and at 160mph it changes quickly enough so you don't get bored 😑
  16. My dadmobile which fits in everything is... a forester. Baby girl and wife approved, but not too slow either. Goes anywhere. Other Foz owner's might even agree. MY04 to MY08 might be approx same budget?
  17. Yeah, it needs a rear GT spoiler 🤡 Also, those nostrils are pretty hideous. Is it a retro styled car with modern running gear?
  18. https://preview.trademe.co.nz/motors/trade-me-motors/cars/1295513713 You can tell some good thought went into the build! Closed deck, equal length headers, 6 spd conversion, baffled sump and what looks to be a whole lot of weight reduction. Would be hella fun. Not my cup of tea but thought someone here might be wanting a "plug and play" track car for 10k...
  19. I was looking at the Saab for _ages_ 🤔
  20. Don't mind me, I'm used to seeing those called something else (sapphire). Maybe badging differences between countries or my memory. I do like the right hand ford badge delete, even though I have a soft spot for non-V8 performance Ford's. Love those rally pumas, escorts etc
  21. Yeah, I got a quote for a dry sump, and decided that a baffled sump is far more prudent for the wallet in the short term! I'm keen to run "Hamster Downs" with you guys once my car gets out onto the road.
  22. That's a nice white cossie in the picture, not sure I approve of the custom wording though. In 4WD I heard those were great.
