thanks guys he'll be doing in on the cnc machine so that'll speed things up.
i'm thinking about buying a 2nd set as while i can get them cheap and get them slotted.
that said he could say no to the holes due to strength issues as stated above and cracking.
going bendix for pads
live and learn i say
not sure this will be a first for me too?
I'm not doing them but giving them to a mate whose a head engineer on the night shifts so it's being done by a pro.
he just wants to see the rotors(there in the post) 1st so he can work out how many holes if any he can do and how many slots he should do?
does anyone have any counts on how many holes and slots they have on there brakes.
Car: 98 ver5 WRX
Suspension: Teins Adjusties
Mags: DTM demons
wheels diamater: 18
Wheels width: 8"
Offset: ?
Tyres spec: 215/35/18
did you have to roll the gaurds?: yes very much so when i had the old 235/50/18 tires but much better now there low profile.
Adjustables for the win.
+1 on ripco bought them though i mate who works there for $40 pair just going to get them slotted and drilled also by i friend for $20 a corner i'll post up a picture when i get them back. Also found out my brake rotors had already been skimmed hence warping quicker with a noob at the brakes
mine knocks/rattles when cold thats all, once its warmed up or i start reversing down the driveway its gone.
I just thought my motor was getting old and tired or an engine mount is tired.
i guess i'll never know till its apart
i got 218,000kms on my standard ver5 engine, if it wasn't for the brakes issue i would of stayed out there but that was due to my noob track work and not understanding the importance of the cool down lap.
only upgrades are the exhaust and vf22 on the engine only boosting 7-9psi might of saved me tho.
I was told at the track day that the ver5-6 sumps are better than the ver1-4
1/2 liter of oil ??? i checked my oil before and after and it was fine.
owe i see your talking about the people running there BEB
I can get standard disc's for $35(mates rates) but i think i'm going to save for some slotted ones but not go as far as drilled unless it's only a couple of dollars.
this was my first track day so it was a good learning experience expensive in the long run i can see but the rex is just parked up in the garage for now.
So on the warm down lap what speeds are you meant to go to cool the brakes down.
I think well i'm pretty sure i did the damage in the morning for the cones when we pulled the abs fuse out and i was locking the brakes up when stopping and swinging the car around but i wasn't very experienced at doing that and it showed lol
i had the BEB go in my legacy i didn't have the money at the time to fix it so i sold it.
now with the wrx if it's BEB went i'd rebuild it most likely i think people take it with such ease as they think its a good time for an upgrade?
I must admit it was a very hot day and even hotter on the track
adjusties for the win they were great at he MM really noticed it following the sti how i caught him on the corners.
but he had the power out of the corners, as his 16.5-18psi boost to my 7-9psi
thats what i did took the advise from someone else who said ebc greens were great and if you got the money go for black so $300 LATER I'm here talking about if i should keep my pads as they warped my rotors.
I'm kicking myself now as driftrex was going to do my brake fluid replce it with that blue stuff when he did his own and notanotherforesters and his friends i just didn't have the money has i was buying that ebc of funkytown.
I'll have a look around and post what what i'm looking at before buying.
cheers about the skimming i'm taking the wheels off tonight to have a better look.
so do you think if i get new disc's the same thing will happen again because of the ebc brakes as i do want to take it back on the track even if it is next year.
I want to be able to stay out there longer, i knew i should of changed the brake fluid.
will see if i can get my disc's skimmed and see if that sorts it.
sorry to hijack but i got the ebc black brake pads but after taupo track day have warped my discs so what upgraded disc should i buy slotted and drilled cryo dipped all coming to mind.
cars ver5 wrx 4 pott calipers.
