  1. I have a 2003(2002 model) Legacy BH5 auto GTB E-tune TT... and I'm having a hard time with what the "correct" radiator should be in the car. Some say the rad doesn't have a cap, but mine does. And, if I get one without a cap, does it matter? I can top up the fluid from the side reservoir.

    Thanks!

Could've just got a new set of 6 inch speakers instead. But if your budget's tight, fair call on the wreckers.

@Individualities I'm really surprised by how good the stock sound is! The deep base was making this speaker flutter...almost unbearable to listen to. For $20, absolutely!

Now, when the need for bluetooth becomes mandatory, then I'll get the double din head unit, and the accompanying speakers! I do like my Led Zepplin, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Anthrax, Judas Priest, and Whitesnake!

  3. So... I got some parts. What a learning experience this has been! Here are the places I've been to get info and parts...

    SuperCheap Auto - New Lynn

    BNT - New Lynn

    Winger Subaru - Auckland

    SubTech - Auckland

    Strong For Subaru - Onehunga

After going back and forth between these places over the last 2 days...I have the following parts...

Front ceramic pads - 2006 WRX Calipers - BNT

Rear ceramic pads - 2002 Legacy GTB BH5 - BNT

    MAF cleaner - BNT

    Throttle body cleaner - BNT

Front caliper cross spring - 2006 WRX - Winger Subaru

Front slotted rotors - 2002 Legacy GTB BH5 - SubTech

Left rear brake light lens - Strong For Subaru

Left rear door speaker(mine's blown) - Strong For Subaru

I'd like to thank Raj at SubTech for his tech help and suggestions, Rachael at Strong for Subaru, Talia at Winger, the staff at BNT, and the staff at SCA(even though they had none of the parts or chemicals in stock).

    Here's a few pics...

I'll post some more pics of the parts tomorrow...and some of the repairs when I do them.

  4. I need help...the rattle noise I have in the front is coming from my front left brake caliper...the metal clip that locks the brake pads in place is missing! I can't find one, unless I spend $260 for a used caliper.

I have a 2003(2002 model) Legacy GT-B BH5 rev D...the front rotors are the 294mm? With the 4 pot "Subaru" logo red calipers.

Does anyone have a spare or know where I can get this clip? I'm desperate! Thanks!

  5. @Jono24Thanks for the details! I'm surprised with the amount of power this 2.0L TT should be making, that when I floor the pedal at a standing start, it just sits there...thinks about moving...then crawls forward slowly.

Also, I've noticed that there is a flutter/rattle at WOT or heavy acceleration. I've read that the original exhaust has a mechanical baffle which directs exhaust under different performance situations? Could this be a part of the cause of these issues? How do I check?

    Thanks everyone!

They're on the rear glass. If you look closely, you see that there's no vertical line between two of them. The upper one is your radio aerial.

Primary on the TT engines is passenger side. The little smol one.

In my recent experiences with the EJ208(/6), I've found that the secondary fails. I've had my secondary done. Primary (VF33) is MINT.

While you've got the intercooler off, replace the charge pipes from the turbos to intercooler with Silicone ones, rather than the concertina ones from factory. Negligible difference, but picks up a few HP (5 at most) - just smoothing out the air flow.

Thanks! Is there someone on the forum that sells these? Do you have part#s?

    Great info!

  6. @Pappu1 none that I can see. The engine bay looks clean, and the hoses are still soft from the ones I looked at on top. It may be a different situation under the intercooler. I might as well take the time to redo all the vacuum hoses, to get familiar with engine bay, and to know for sure that the hoses are all good. What diameter hose do I need to do the job? Also, while I'm in there with the intercooler off, what other maintenance should I do and easy mods to tackle?
