Sounds a lot like my car when a coil was dead. Can you swap the front coils to the rear, and see if it follows them?

Can conclude that Syntrax Universal Plus fully synthetic makes my gearbox happy. I like a happy gearbox.

yeah, no plate diffs so an oil without friction modifier will be OK. Looks like ill go with Syntrax Universal.

Im aware of the cost of Castrol oils, thanks, but i can get them cheap through work. @Andy_Mac hows your gearbox feel with that in it? Castrol recommends either the one you linked, or the one i linked >_<

FYI, the genuine part also comes with a new holder. Not completely necessary, but makes the job quicker and cleaner.

Hmm, not familiar with electronic throttles so not sure what the readings should be there. I know some cars have issues with the throttle plate being moved by hand when its an e-throttle. Hopefully it hasnt upset it. Is there a specific procedure for the ez30 to teach the throttle body there the plate is? I know the idle relearn is meant to do it, but maybe it isnt working.

Have you checked to see if youre getting power to the pump when the car dies? Also check the connector under the rear seat base, they are notorious for burning out and causing all sorts of fuel pump issues.

All vacuum lines intact and connected? All hose clamps tight? What does freessm say for throttle body % and V at idle and WOT?

Hi, Looking to change the gearbox oil in my S401. What is the generally accepted oil to use in the 6 speed boxes? Ive done some searching and found all sorts of oils people use, and the threads on here are fairly old.

FYI 72880AE000 has a retail of $60+gst from the local dealer. Looks exactly the same as the Ryco one.

Sadly i didnt have that luxury, mine smells like farm, lol. I got mine at trade from the local dealer, and i dont think it was too much more than that excluding the shipping. Be worth a call. Hey i see you mention you removed a V8 STI pump from your cradle to install the AEM pump. I might need to replace the pump in my RevD soon (current one very loud), was that a direct replacement? Looking for cheapish options, dont need huge extra overhead for a standard engine. Edit: Derp, noticed the install at the top of the page. Maybe i should learn to read better.

Lol, I bet you're probably glad to have missed out on it with the neglect it's had. Sadly it's not as it was described, but it's nothing terminal. It'll be back to its rip roaring self again soon.
