  1. Was great to not think about the thumbwheel at all. Just compensated by waggling the rear out more and maybe the foot lifted off the gas but I can't be sure :-)
  2. It can be done. You need little or bendable fingers to set the bolt into place. There is only one way to offer up the bolt to the hole, and you need to find the right approach angle for yourself. Then use those fingers to tighten as much as possible (which is not so much). Then use an offset ring spanner to very slowly tighten bolt. The spanner only fits from one direction too. It takes ages, but you only do it once.
  3. I used Armstrongs in Wellington to get a complete set of O-rings. You just need to find a useful person.

I've got some of those ones that loner has, and I crashed. I think they are faulty.
  5. I have used Ray Hartley Motors for the subaru, the toyota and the daihatsu, and like what they do. Very keen motorsport people there who are good value.
  6. Anyone have a throttle jam open? Mine jammed at about 6000 rpms last week. I found the tiny rubber boot that protects the end of the throttle cable had fallen down the cable to under the throttle linkage. Would this have caused the problem?
  7. Repurpose Legacy with a 250kW STI motor, old man
  8. Secondary latch could be worth keeping incase the bonnet pins not correctly done up? Could save windscreen?
  9. This is when I caused the leak - didnt put hose over the lip. Have pushed hose over lip, but now still have some weeping. No I havent put on a normal hose clamp. I'll do that.
  10. Hi guys Swapped engine to another shell and now have a fluid leak at the front, drivers side where the first hose clamps onto the metal tube that goes to the rear of the engine bay. My dumb thing was I accidentally loosened it then ran engine which poured ps fluid out this joint. Now I've done joint up tight but fluid still weeps out. It drips down onto the exhaust and spews out white smoke. Any ideas how to fix? Al
  11. I have just removed 2 and I damaged both but I wasnt taking any particular care. The clips (that clip to the strip) were glued in the gutter strip and over-glued onto the strip. Suggest pulling the strip back to the 1st clips then cutting the clip (and glue) to pieces to save the strip. Hope this may help. You will then need to dig out the clips and replace them.
  12. I have wrapped 180k speedo round the clock but not to 54000kph, that would wind it up like a spring and explode the multi-dimensional matrix of time
  13. Only 1 Club Captain? Phew - imagine 2 Jokers ;D
  14. Fair call. I used the BG5 Legacy at trackdays quite a lot and relying on the abs was never an issue. In fact the only time I ended up using it was on days when it was fair pissing down and then the abs gave me 2 carlengths on everyone else at the end of the straights. However ymmv and your abs may kick it much earlier than mine did? (the bg5 had almost a 1st generation abs that only took over very late.) [When I say abs I\'m meaning ABS not your six-pack
  15. Thanks Dane Brent and Sam and all for your kind offers. Am sorted now. Using some TE37 16\'s I have lying around that previously I couldn\'t use due to lack of 16" cost-friendly tyres. Neil has got put aside a set of 225/45x16 Kumho V70A\'s at Blair\'s in Geraldine so we\'ll swing by on the way to Waimate and fit them up. Then I\'ll drive them to the event to scrub them in, plus a little more scrubbing during practice run, then try them out for real.

  17. Those sneaky wires soldered to the door control unit appears to be the standard and simplest way to wire in an aftermarket alarm. I have been on the same journey of discovery. Now you can find out if the alarm is buggered or the door lock timer or the door pump or the wiring or the connections ...
  18. Had a BG5 for 14yrs. It done 380,000kms. Engine original, auto trans rebuilt twice
  19. 1/2 put rear shocks back in yesterday. Dropped them at Autolign Weds afternoon, got phone call Fri morning to say shocks rebuilt already. And they\'d been to AKL and back for the rebuild. That was amazing. And got a discount from the kind manager. And got great advice from the guys there. Wife helped capture top hats in car. Got max camber with help of block of wood and jack. Hopefully today there will be time to finish it.
