  1. Hi Guys, Just a quick question on behalf of a friend, the same one that I asked about fuel earlier. We are wanting to do a ECU / TCU reset on his car. I haven\'t got my data cable with me currently to do it via FreeSSM. Is there a set of plugs that should be under the dash to connect together similar to on the BE/BH\'s ? Cheers.
  2. Mine tends to lunge / surge when it\'s cold a bit when it comes on boost even if it\'s only 1-3psi. Normally I try keep all boost off it until it\'s warm and it will come right - likely the Temp Sensor as D-Style said. Are these in the AFM\'s ?
  3. I\'ve reused the rubber o-ring if that\'s what you\'re talking about.
  4. Morning, I\'ve got a work friend who recently got a 2004 (I think) Leggy with a EZ30. Can people give suggestions as to what the best fuel is to run in this ? I suggested Z 95/V-Power as I\'ve heard good things about it and my TT actually runs better on it than it doe on the BP 98. Currently it\'s running on generic 91. Cheers.
  5. This is a legal change that can be made ? Tim initially just told me I should get some "HMALK\'s" in which I googled to find out what they were and came up empty.
  6. Have you got more info on these HMALK things ? Google doesn\'t seem to have much on them, just wants to correct to HULK.
  7. I\'ve been meaning to check that but keep forgetting to. From memory it has VDC in letters on the dash but I know the icon you\'re meaning.
  8. I would love to super mine. Check out this place in aussie they make heaps of them. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Raptor-Superchargers-for-Subarus/151791564911239?fref=ts
  9. I\'ve got a cable and software to do some diagnostics if you wanted me to have a geeze.
  10. It\'s a factory thing. Mine does this also. It\'s designed as a alert, temp gauge does the same.
  11. Would be worth a try, I\'ve swapped out the TCU and ECU a couple of times to see if that fixed it but it never has. Apparently it\'s just a few from our model which are known to have these issues. ** Further more to your original post re feeling like going from 4th to 2nd this is likely felt when your shifting when it\'s been in the 1:1 lockup after 4th gear. When it comes out of this it feels like it\'s shifting down two gears where it\'s only shifting down to 3rd. If your in 4th and then go full throttle in sport you\'ll feel the same thing as it shifts down into 4th and then normally you\'ll get trans slip and have not much power
  12. I have the exactly same problem on my 2000 B4 it\'s no biggie just an electrical fault with the dash. (Potentially troll ghosts) : My triptronic display has been doing it the entire time I\'ve owned the car 5+ years now. It will commonly show D when I\'m in sports or show 4th gear when I\'m in second or "-" when I\'m in 3rd. You eventually get used to it and just know what gear you\'re in by revs. The car will still change gears normally if requested via sports shift regardless of what the dash is showing. The fuel gauge issue mine started in the last year or 18 months. It will often go from full down to zero at random and back up and down slowly at it\'s leisure. I bought a second hand fuel sender unit from someone who had the same issue. They said they got their dash solders reconditioned / redone by a place in Christchurch. Off the top of my head the name escapes me but I\'ll post it up when I remember! I haven\'t had mine done yet as I can\'t be assed pulling it out but from memory it was only about $65 to get done. Hope this helps
  13. I thought I would dig this up again as I\'ve had some interesting progress on this that I would be interested to know what people think. For the past week I\'ve been running my car without the ABS fuse connected which was removed for the impending snow doom. On the little sticker that shows what fuse is what also says that ABS also controls VDC. To my knowledge my car doesn\'t have VDC, the VDC light also doesn\'t come on with the fuse removed. (Bulb might be bust afaik) Since removing this my shifting in both auto and trip is significantly "tighter" and more responsive. Does anyone that know much about the electrical side of things for these ? Most people I\'ve asked have been unsure. 00\' BE5 Rev B I believe. Cheers.
  14. My owners manual says that it should be changed before and after doing track days. Normally I change mine between 4-5k as I\'m fussy and as it\'s been said it\'s cheap insurance and good piece of mind to know things are happily lubed. Still always comes out fairly black though.
  15. Yep more or less normal. If the oil came out clean then it wouldn\'t be doing it\'s job. Might pay to do changes if you\'re doing trackdays in it though. I know Subaru recommends doing a oil change after one.
  16. I have a similar issue with the fuel gauge sometimes where it will suddenly go to zero even if it\'s got a full tank. From other people I\'ve spoken to it\'s bad solder on the back of the instrument cluster. I haven\'t bothered / had time to take it out and have it redone as of yet. Not sure about the other one though would be interested to know what the CEL is. Is the A/C coming on when you turn on the heating ? Could be something to do with the pump might be stuffed and when it\'s engaging it\'s putting extra strain on the engine possibly.
  17. 2000 BE5 265k suspect BEB still waiting for Richard to pull it apart one day to find out. Suspect due to changing oil types around 250k to 5w30 fully synth castrol edge. Was running previously on 10w40 castrol magnatec, genuine filters during the time I owned it.
  18. I\'ve also been told not to touch the primary turbo cat anyway as it overspools and does bad things.

    Engine swap

Yep they all bolt up fine, Mines running a manual engine on a auto trans.
  20. I did this so called stall test, Went up to at least 3 grand and was making some very unhappy noises.
  21. The earth is located inside the oil pan from what I was told. So no.
  22. I\'ve had 3 people test it in both conditions and they\'ve said they notice a diffenece too. Pads and rotors were both new and supplied by dacerx. Fluid is a racing fluid that he told me to get too. All 4 brakes were complelty bleed and removed all old fluid. Changes were done by dad who\'s got 15+ years mechanical experience behind him.
