  1. yea, not many ecutek places bothered buying the licence tho (torque hadnt when i had v5 sti r)
  2. unfortunatly (someone correct me if im wrong here) but the 94 TT is only a GT, not a GTB (closer to 200kw), so only a whopping 140kw or thereabouts. One way or another, would highly recommend finding a JDM v3 sti motor to put in some form of legacy. The problem with TT - is its pretty difficult to get decent power out of them, the turbos are really kinda small, and they have several problems, including - - BEB - BBOD, - VOD, - code 66, - knock sensors, - AFM dying and - george (search forums on these) On top of that - your upgradeability is fairly limited - - you are pretty much stuck with stock turbos - good luck with finding after-market (tuneable) ecu - and the debatable fact/myth (depending on side of debate) about overspooling primary (Port the secondary turbo, and it shouldn't be as much of an issue) Options - TBH - 99% of TT's in new zealand are imports anyway, so the options are all fairly limited. - auto/manual - dont touch auto, or expect to just be given an auto - later models had Bilstein suspension - actually pretty good for factory stuff - rear spoiler - shiney sill guards - rear boot bar - indicator directional lights - projector headlamps (<- get this one) - small bodykit differences (so other than projectors, manual, and bilstiens - the rest is just cosmetic stuff) I went from a 94 TT wagon to a 98 sti type R - and was expecting more lag etc etc etc - but in all honesty - its not an issue, and i didnt look back. The TT had apexi AVCR controller, full exhaust (aftermarket downpipes are SO worth it - and VF13 overspooling really isnt that much of an issue - if it dies, just replace it - they are only worth $120NZD), pod, and good BOV. The TT's are nice - and have climate control, heated side mirrors, defrosting strip on front windscreen under wiper blades etc Very nice road cruisers tho. EDIT- Oh, and BEB - thats not exclusive from this club as well. They have issues like most other subaru's. 94gt melted one piston, beb on another motor.
  3. as above.... pros - avgas smells good avgas resists det better (main reason i run a mix of it for trackdays) - this is just my protection against det on standard ecu and who knows what other problems may happen. cons - eats o2 sensors (dont think mine is installed) pricy - at 2.57 a litre other - has no tax on it - popo not happy. fuel useage seems to soar. smells good. nasty stuff to get on skin. and, it smells good.
  4. errr... check for something hitting firewall/gbox?
  5. hmm - id see if you know anyone with contacts at PBT, and whether you can palletise and get dropped at the depot.
  6. ok, that is bogan. Get a towbar on it, and call it your tow vehicle.
  7. find a subaru parts manual for ur car... they are handy and list the o-ring sizes Or, take to repco - they have a selection of orings
  8. dudes and dudettes... have a geezer at the service manual. Sealant on the bottom of the halfmoons (such as 3bond), none anywhere else
  9. hmmm cant say i agree w all them.... author seems a long way up his own ass/taking facts waaaaaaay outta context... Not changing filter.... errr... so just leave the one it rolled from factory in there, despite many years living on dusty roads? Backpressure is the main one i dont like, as you need a specific length/dia pipe for scavenging effect to work. Reading that article suggest that no header is best solution And hydrogen... taking same view "damn, we have to transport this very flammable/vapourises readily/damages environment/poisonous/kept dry liquid around everywhere, which needs huge tankers to ship, and safe pumping methods... then all these places will be required to have specially vented underground tanks... (petrolium industry for those who havnt clicked on) Also - its possible to harvest hydrogen from natural sources.
  10. hahahaha, why you say that? only have 2 subarus at home, one fully going. Fair few car bits around tho.
  11. can be nice on a cold morning tho - idle the car for a few minutes first, just to keep fingers warm
  12. all the coool kids want to wear caps sideways and do mean drifties yo. 1 - All the crap jappers that mum n dad buy for their kids are FWD, so they want to be different. 2 - Cant have much fun in an underpowered FWD, yet a crappy 50kw toyota KE30 can still be fun to throw sideways at low speeds. 3 - FWD is only really fun when have lotsa power. 4 - you look like a tool doing a 1 wheel, FWD burnout. 5 - FWD is too hard to weld the diff up. Best FWD i owned was a Renault R21 sport, or a Mazda eunos (upspec astina) 1800 dohc, but have driven a few starlets with some fairly good power - torque steer blows, and having no traction sucks ass.
  13. some guys that used to work here were turning up a solid steel bat weighed a bit, but by god you wouldnt want to get hit by it.
  14. OP - look in yellow pages for some gearbox specialists. they should be able to check the first two, and will be better at recognising the problem.
  15. guys guys guys.... get can, read back of can follow directions on back of can. iirc, get car warm, then squirt into intake manifold via vacuum hose... for example, the green hose, or even the blue one. To be honest, it doesnt matter, just try and spray DIRECTLY INTO THE MANIFOLD, BEHIND THE THROTTLE PLATE spray half can in, let sit. get mate, to crank car as you spray other half of can in. sit then start and take car for a smoky drive. This stuff is good at removing CARBON buildups, not film oil. If you have ever looked inside a turbo/intake/intercooler - there is sfa carbon, its 90% oil. If you really worried about cleaning that, take it out, then run a bunch of petrol/degreaser/brakecleen through, drain, and let dry before putting back on car. This stuff is a foaming cleaner, so it needs a fixed area to work in, say the intake plenum. The cranking bit just draws some through into the cylinders i think (not 100% on this bit) i dont like idea of spraying into the pipe directly behind the afm - too far to the parts that need it (idle control) and the throttle plate will stop it getting past there anyway.
  16. ryan, find a picture and put a bigass red arrow onto it to remove all doubt for these chaps.
  17. upper engine cleaner is just a solventy type thingy which is really good at lifting carbon and oil, and if you rebuilding engine and want to de-carbon something - this does an awesome job - spray, leave for a bit, then clean off. so in theory it should work on all engines, however YMMV using it on steel parts/old rubber? By following can instructions, it just attempts to strip out all gunk inside intake stuff, and is great for working where you cant. If you havnt done it for a while, will be a huge change, if you have, not as big an effect. One big change you may see will be if you idle control is all gummed up - this will make it run a lot better
  18. you know the funny thing? Dictatorships work really well for a lot of the time, with the right leader Never get stupid pc-pandering pansy-ass bull$hit that this country is coming to. i.e. a guy driving 3-4x over our really lax limit, is txting while driving, crashes n kills someone. Cornor in some brainfart decides that the txting was the cause of the crash. guy builds a homebrew towbar out of welding wire (not quite) and now they pushing for all cars with towbars to have to pass a full inspection /crack test of all mounts. (read big $$) some dumbasses drive like morons in hi-po cars, now anything with a non-stock exhaust is of the devil.
  19. Most of our bunch only noticed the doughnut tracks halfway down the gravel road. (in one of the videos they have driven past a set of rings from someone having some fun )
  20. errr.... come on a wet road on a corner, then stomp on brakes. intersting things happen, abs stops interesting things from happening Up until a certain year, abs was a tick box on the sheet. ABS/DCCD - becuase the early (pre v7) dccd cntrol was manual, it ment that it played havock with the locked diff, so it wasnt offered. Come v7, they put smarts in and got around that issue
  21. car done 130k km. as to age of filter... no idea.
