can anyone reccomend a good place to get my car tuned properly? im in invercargill so as close to here as possible really. its got a possum link but not sure how old it is

Bring it round one weekend and ill plug the laptop in, if i can and see if its tunable.

the guy that put the motor in for me(jason who owned slo 4) reckons the rows may be out a wee bit or something. i dont know anything about tuning of them. it is a laptop tunable 1 tho. where u live?

could just load my map into it. its a tuned map...wont be perfect as youll have diff mods but at least you have the right end of a good amount of fuel. youll have 6 options for maps so load mine in and see if it runs if not crash it back to the other map.

thats pretty rough man....i wouldnt be doing anything apart from getting it done by someone that knows how to tune with the right gear eg det muffs, af reader etc..

Anything else just asking for trouble

chuck it on a trailer and bring it to Apet, if your comp all wired up it will only cost $400-500 for a good retune.

yeah its al wired up and running just has a wee miss in it and think the fueling side of things needs sorted out

Whats rough about changing the map and checking it?

Its a tuned map. Was tuned on the dyno.

Can change it back as fast as you change it if theres a problem. You certainly wont be thrashing it but at least youll know if theres a bigger problem.

A tune is for a particular car if its running aftermarket mods...

The whole reason you have a aftermarket ecu is to get it tuned to suit YOUR car.....and your mods.

It doesnt matter if its a tuned map on a tuned dyno youve got a bigger turbo, most likely different mods than what he has. That wil mean a different tune

im running 38mm turbosmart external, vf22, front mount, yellow top injectors and standard fuel pump thats brand new and a possum link

how much do you want to spend 500 for a tune or 5-6k cause youve fucked your motor as its runnig someone elses tune. iv heard of it happen and it will if you dont get it done properly..

another cars tune might RUN fine but things you cant see or hear without the right gear may indicate otherwise

I have to agree with Brad. Have been told by a few reputable tuners as I had considered doing it with my old computer.

Doesnt matter how alike the mods are, its never a good idea.

Cos then youll have an idea, wallet wise of its the tune itself or mechanical.

take it to a tuner they can plug in their lappy and gear and likely diagnose the problem from the get go

You should be able to see weather its ECU or mechanical doing it that way too.

EDIT: f*** ya brad.

Need a wideband A/F meter and det headphones to see whats happening. The laptop will show you that its giving x-amount of fuel and x-degrees of timing at any point and thats about it.

Although in the grand scheme of things, Possumlinks just give a close enough tune and thats about it. Half the time the data can't keep up with whats happening anyway.

turbo shop dont have a 4wd dyno, apet tuned my car and i have no issues with it

yeah its booked in it the turbo shop. theyre gunna road tune it but they still can listen to knock sensor and stuff while doing that
