Getting head gaskets replaced, what else?

So my 97 bg5c manual wagon has blown its head gasket, at least we're 90% sure it has. It got real hot a couple months ago when my radiator cracked and i didnt notice so was driving around with little to no coolant left inside the car. Have since replaced the crappy standard radiator with an alloy one from redline performance (who i highly recommend btw). But now i just keep losing coolant and i'm sure there are no leaks anywhere, every couple of days i have to top up the coolant. I've taken it to the local mechanics and they seem to think its a head gasket issue as the coolant system is becoming pressurised after a few minutes cold running.

Anyway long story short, the car is going up to chch to DCH motorsport to get the head gaskets replaced and have the heads skimmed.

I'm just wondering if there is anything else i should get these guys to do while they have the engine out?

thanks for the advice.

Do the rear main seal and get the kidney plate resealed. The rest don't require the engine or box to be removed.

I would get the block deck skimmed too, just to be sure.

cool thanks, I also recently fiitted some siamese front pipes to a 3 inch mid pipe. this wouldnt be having any adverse affect on the engine would it? sorry if this is a stupid question haha.

edit: also would it be worth buying a new waterpump? and are they pricey? thanks

most of the time the block is ok. but the heads do need need to be skim

get the engine mount replace if you can afford it, since the motor is out. also get the PCV or PVC behind the inlet manifold under the throttle body replaced. it should been replace every 60,000km i read somewhere.

chances are you didnt bleed the coolant properly thats why it keep over heating after replacing the radiator, common mistake last person i know thats done that was someone in wellington with a white spec c ;) but he got it sorted right away

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
