Outback/Lancaster H6 - VDC good or bad?

The old man is looking at H6 Lancaster/Outbacks (BH shape), just wondering what the VDC system is like?

What I've picked up so far is:

-All H6 that shape were autos

-VDC gets 45:55 rear-biased 4wd whereas non VDC is front biased (have heard up to 90:10)

-VDC can't be turned off except by removing a fuse, which also disables ABS?

Is that lot correct? And what are they like to drive, any nasty habits like suddenly cutting power when you get into a slide on gravel?

Anything else useful to know about them?

only going on what I was told by our local Vet who has run subarus since jesus was a wee takker , and when he got the H6 outback he didnt like it as he would lose drive on gravel as it kicked in..... it was one of the first gen h6 though so it may have been fine tuned since then

To turn off the VDC you insert a fuse, like the old FWD/Diff lock, except it's now in the under bonnet fuse box. Not sure if it turns off the ABS too.

The variable torque split autos can dump a lot more power to the rear as they have a planetary gear set in the rear of the trans. Not sure of the actual torque split though sorry.

Go test drive one on a wet day, find a nice open carpark and throw it into a few turns. It works quite well.

Some models have a switch to turn off the VDC soem do not, we have had maybe the better part of 50 h6 lancasters with VDC, and have found that about 15 or so have had the switch to turn it off, when it is fitted the switch is located to the left of the steering wheel.

While we have had no problems with the VDC itself, there have been people that we have known that have had issues with it.

My recommendation to him would be, to purchase a model with the ability to switch the vdc off.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
