Buying a B4

Hi all,

Am thinking of buying a second hand B4. Just wanted to know if there is anything I should look out for while looking/test driving? Am looking at a 99-01 model so were there any problems with gear boxes etc with these years?

How much gas does the turbo use compared to a non turbo? Any other general things I should look out for?

1st thing to do is get the plate and have a look on carjam.

Gearboxes were fine. Petrol is determined on how you drive it. It's going to suck more, but it doesn't have to be a boat load.

Knocking coming from the centre of the engine = run faaaar away.

It's worth buying a rev d, if you can find one. Lighter (alloy) bonnet, less VoD, different turbos, fancier head lights, nicer (stock) rims, tunable ECU, + a few extras.

Yeah Ive got a Rev d one mines a 01 if you can get one under 100km it should be sweet just have to do the big service when it ticks over. There pretty good on gas if i drive it nicely and can get round 600km per tank but leave it in 3rd and 4th well cruising you can just about watch the gauge drop. Plus its definitely worth doing the snorkelectomy if its turbo.
