6x9's into version 8 GDB

I miss having 6x9's in the parcel tray like I had in my GC8, but now with my version 8 STi theres no pre-cut holes, although I noticed theres holes cut into the metal base of the parcel tray.

So my question is, has anyone here successfully cut holes in the parcel tray and installed 6x9s using spacers? I'd hate to cut up the cardboard peice of my tray then find out it won't work lol. The 6.5" and 4" in the doors just don't cut it for me.

I have an issue too with my parcel tray on my 1999 b4, my 6x9's have just arrived and I see that one side of the parcel try has a nice 6x9 hole cut in the metal, but the other side of the tray has a 6 or 6.5 inch hole, I mean whats up with that? lol

I looked from the inside of the car and saw 2 6x9 speaker grills and said "sweet" I never looked from below :

Its for the factory Mcintosh system, do not understand why you want to use 6x9 tho, 6.5 or 6" sound heaps better, unless your into undefined muffled bass.

definetly not into duff duff, I got some very very nice 6x9's for almost nothing so I thought I would fit them in the B4 to enhance the sounds I already have. thats all mate
