Engine identification

Besides the yellow injectors, or orange afm or looking at the camshafts how do you tell an ej20r apart from a standard TT one?

I would have thought there would be ej20r stamped on the block somewhere. do the numbers on the back of the engine mean anything?

Three wires running to the coils instead of two. The valve covers are different I think (one has ribs on it the other is smooth but I can't remember which is which).

ej20r have smooth valve covers

on v1 and v2 a wrx has lines amd 16v etc on covers but v3 nd 4 both have smooth covers????

i had an ej20 g or h in it that someone put in my gtb and it had smooth valve covers, grey injectors though and 3 wire ignition coils so its puzzling, does the 96 ej20r have a centre thrust crank?

yes center thrust. And as above auto have grey injectors.

All manufactures use this system of graded bearings

Look at the first few pages of the engine manual

Its all explained there much better than I can here
