standard boost solinoid removal???

this should sorta be in electrical but it kinda falls into both i guess...

so i dont run the standard boost solinoid as i have an external wastegate (to my knowledge the solinoid dont work to well on external??) and i cant unplug the dam thing cos it throws CEL...the reason i wana remove is cos the ticking it makes is sooo dam loud (does that mean its stuffed???)

my question is there a way to remove it or make the noise stop??? the noise is the solinoid shutteling am i right??

one thing i thought of is can i remove the solinoid and replace the solinoid with a light??? so instead of noisy ticking ill have a strobe light hahaha but im guessing itl pulse so fast the bulb will blow??? any ideas guys???

you could take it out, mesure the resistance of it with a meter then put teh right size resistor in its place in teh plug

you can do what smurf said.. i run a 5w wire-wound ceramic resistor clamped to the chassis to keep it cool. i think the resistive component of the coil was around 20ohms but the larger resistor you use the cooler it will run (until the ecu thinks theres a coil-open fault)

you could pull the solenoid apart and remove the pin, leaving the coil. i'm not sure if the coil would overheat though

leave it there and put up with the noise

leave it there and gag it with a pillow to shut it up

leave it there and wear earplugs

pull it out and ignore the CEL

not many other options lol

I just left mine plugged in, but not plumbed to any of the vacuum lines. Car works just fine. But you'll still need some kind of boost controller unless you want to just run wastegate pressure.

yup i do have it there with no vac hoses....i dont like the noise it makes when it shuttles....

but they will laugh at you if you just ask for a resistor. they need to know the type/power rating/R value to sell you a part. i'll check what i'm using and post up
