Mating EJ25 engine to auto gearbox...

Guest

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping someone can advise me how to refit an EJ25 N/A engine to an automatic gearbox...

The engine is in the engine bay. It seems to have mated with the gearbox input shaft, but I can't bolt the two together. I have about a half centimeter gap between gearbox housing and the engine.

I've tried turning the crankshaft slowly, while pushing on the engine, but I just can't close the remaining gap.

Now I'm wondering, was I supposed to fit the torque converter clutch to the gearbox before fitting the engine? Right now, it's mounted to the engine.

All advice appreciated...

There is a "spigot" on either side - a pin in one housing or the other - sometimes the pin sticks in the engine, sometimes in the box. If there are two on one side (one in box, one in engine) they won't go together - not without WAY too much force!

If theres two, punch one out :-)

Allan.

Thanks Allan. I don't remember seeing any spigot or pin, but I guess I'll pull the engine out again and take a look.

But, when the engine goes in, should the torque converted clutch be on the engine or gearbox?

so, then i have to bolt the torque converter to the engine thru that little spy hole (the one where the clutch fork normally goes)???

that doesn't seem possible!

OMG. New swear words are going to be invented!

It's easier than you'd think!

You don't have to pull the engine - they are about half way down on either side - you can probably see with a torch - they stick out about 5-7mm normally.

Is it the same engine you pulled out, or another one?

If it's the original they should be in the same place as before.

But yeah, put the torque convertor on the trans side. Try to line one hole in the flex plate up with the hole in the block, then do the same with the torque convertor.

Once that bolt is in (not totally tight) you can turn over the engine to the next one. put them all in, then tighten them all up - don't miss any! ;)

Good luck!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
