TPS code??

Was driving around the other day and cel came on, then went off, then back on for a couple of times until it finally stayed on. read the code and it was 31, tps. when me and a mate tried testing it, adjusted it till it was reading .7 ohms at closed and infinate at open. thort that would be ok. rest ecu and went for a drive and code came back on and both closed and open gives a reading of infinate no matter where it is adjusted too. really just want to no if the sensor is poked? or could it be something interfering with it?

Try cleaning the connectors with AFM cleaner? I know its worked for people in the past...

Yea bro. If that does nothing then try another sensor. it may just be bung

you check reading after you tightened her up ? the reading can change quite allot when tightening . tighten with multi meter still on it

We adjusted it, then tightened it up and it showed 0.7ohms. Then we took it for a drive, the CEL code came back on. So we re-tested it without moving anything and it showed infinite ohms of resistance.

tried adjusting again ? sounds like its moved . . idling funny ? fuel cut working on Decell

Yeah we tried adjusting it again but every position we now put it in, it shows infinite resistance. It idles fine but it has stuttery when cruising.

either the sensor has a open circuit in side or the wiring has a open circuit

We are testing it at the tps, so it can't be the wiring. I will try out a new tps tomorrow.

the ecu puts 5v into the sensor . to make it as basic as possible the tps is a variable resistor . it changes the voltage from 5v to whatever the throttle is opened to. . . if there's no input then you will all ways have infinit ohms as infinit is open circuit . . . that's the most basic i can brake it down to . if you take the plug off have you got 5v at a pin ? then check the earth has continuity

i haven't really played with subaru tps but are they 3 wire ? 5v in . signal to ecu and earth ? or 4 with extra wire for idle switch ?

It's a 4pin one off a 91 Rs legacy. The multimeter will test the resistance of a component, regardless if the circuit is complete. The test that I was doing was straight out of the haines manual.

well if you have infinite ohm through the whole range of throttle and its set correctly its obviously bung ? and yeah my bad just clicked they are a resistance sensor not a voltage sensor . . so you can test it off the vehicle realistically
