Quick CV question

Recommended Posts

Hi all, went to the FAQ and this didn't answer my question.

I have a '95 BG Subaru SW, manual and ABS.

Outer front CV's are buggered and I'm getting them replaced. I realise that there are 3 different types of CV joints? He asked if on the shaft it had none, 1 or 2 rings on it. I had a look and said 1, that's all i could see.

I now have a sneaking suspition that I might have this wrong. The CV boots are gone, they perished (silt covered) and the 1 ring I think I might have seen was where the CV boot attaches? So maybe I have no rings then?

Can anyone put up some pics of what I need to look for? Or does it not matter for the outer CV's?

Cv are fairly closely priced nodays - non O/E CV is around $150 retail

Are you doing the job yourself??

Spline count and seal diameter is the best way to ensure correct part , which means dimantle to find out

Oh I forgot to add the rest of the details:

My friend is a mechanic and can get them at cost. I gave him the car model number, engine type, year, manual, ABS. But I told him they had 1 ring on the shaft which I now think is wrong.

Is the model number, engine type, year, manual and ABS enough to tell exactly what outer CV for my wagon?

I have never had an issue with getting the correct part thru BNT using model and chassis number :)

Luckily I dont work on anything but Subarus and Toyotas and I get the toyota parts straight from toyota using their online parts ordering.....

Biggest issue I have is having Japanese import buses as it is not as easy as ordering parts from say Mitsubishi, as sometimes the manufacturer only builds the front and rear subframes and the body is built by a body builder :(

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
