LED lights in bonnet vent

Hey guys.

I have a crazy idea to get a LED strip (similar to those seen on Audi headlights) and mount inside the bonnet vent.... I am not techno minded so would like some hinters please.

Issues;

1) how can you control it? on/off from inside cabin?

2) where will you power it from? It ain't as easy as plug'n'play USB?

3) will it cause over-heating issues? the vent is made for air, so probably not good to block it.

wireing, easy, switch in cabin, feed from ACC, with a fuse. probly not plug and play.

over heating... not sure, spose its not designed to have any obstical in the area. but im sure people do it.

I did this. Wired them to the alarm LED so they only went when the car wasn't running.

I seen better ones on e-bay...

thinking that I will change from simple white LED to knight rider.

Just not sure how to connect?

ideally it would scroll/scanne red a few times when u arm/disarm the alarm... but the eletrics wil just pulse the park lights..... therefore you'd get half a scan x2 when disarming... hmmmm.

maybe I could connect to the dome light so that it scrolls when the doors are open?

idea? comments please?

Hey this isn't really constructive but when you figure it out could you please PM me on how you did it? I have been thinking about putting a green l.e.d in just behind the grill of my Legacy for a while now. Was thinking of even making it strobe when car was parked up? And as far as I know its legal if you can't see the light source and they don't strobe or change colour while driving. What I will do if i do mine and can afford it (and have a sick as sound system) is get green under car ones and run a bonnet vent one aswell (God I'm gonna need a new hood when I get a new engine for a top mount). If not, why not just attack some under car kit and use the wiring from that for it or something?

You will be able to get a timer that is switched on by the park lights or whatver flashes when you arm/disarm the alrm and then continues to supply power to your scanner thing for however long you want. Search Jaycars site.

If you want it to strobe when parked you can connect to the ignition.. I had a friend who installed a deterent type flashing diode that came on when ignition was off on an old car.

As for legal. I understand that you cannot have any naked bulbs visible (or changing colours for that matter). The ambient glow is fine.

The ambient glow can also only be seen from certain angles. Which I cannot recall. It's on the LTSA or whatever the call themselves website.

Are undercar neons legal whilst driving then? Just an ambient glow? And will I get pulled up when I put lights in my boot under the plexi floor (to be installed soon)? Because I imagine those will light the boot up like a christmas tree.

As for under the hood, for strobing I could hook it up to the light in the roof maybe? For like when the internal lights are on?

Legality aside, having a bright light in your boot while driving will destroy your night vision.

I know hella do a relay with an intergrated timer in it....may solve the scanning problem

I have a similiar issue as I want my beacons to operate when I arm/disarm or when it going off
