2003 BP5a legacy AVCS issue!

hi

Mate has a 2003 leggy that is having issues idling, very ruff.

initial Compression tests stated that the right hand side was low 90PSI, but during that test there was a click clack.. and the compression came up to a good 190PSI, then the compression test on the left hand side stated 80 and 90PSI and never shifted.

motor was pulled, exhaust valves on left hand side looked to be burnt, the right h/s were fine.

the AVCS oil filter/gause on the right hand was crushed... sort of folded over... that has been replaced...

the left hand side AVCS gause looked to be OK

put all back together and its still has idlling better (prolly due to valves being done) but not really fixed.

real time data showed the left hand side at 53degrees advanced and right hand was 2 degrees advanced, after fitting a new pulley on the left hand side the problem then shifted sides?? i.e. the right was 53 advanced etc

question is... has anyone come accoss this type of idling problem before?

there is no oil in any of the AVCS sensor plugs as per the known AVCS issues

update:

well as per threads all over the interwebz on this problem, the give away was a crushed filter/gause.

All too comon (so i have read) when you find a crushed gause... there will be plastic bits that break up and get wedged in the AVCS solenoids which jams them creating all sorts of issues fromsimple bad idling through to poor performance throughout the rev range.

thats it! biff the filters, pull off the AVCS pipes & solenoids, look for the little bits of plastic from the gause then clean them out/remove them

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
