Ok so I have looked at this road before but I am having no luck find a tidy blue wrx hatch with low ks.

So my mate has a 1996 wrx with a blown head gasket, and he is parting it out. I\'m after a project, and I have a 96 hx20s very tidy. Is this a bad idea to rebuild that motor and swap over gearbox clutch ect. Has anyone done this before? What are the cons?

Or does anyone have a blue wrx hatch for sale? I just love them in blue and find it a big job to do a full paintjob engine bay and all.

Cheers

I see what you doing but tbh why bother? You are better off selling your car and buying an Sti imo. Will be cheaper and you won\'t need Certs and the likes and I hope you do know the Sti is waaaaay different to the hx20s in terms of every part. Chassis may be same but all the brakes suspension bits, engine bits interior is all at a superior level. Trying to turn it into an Sti would just be throwing your money away. But that\'s my opinion anyway.

P.s there\'s a clubsub member selling his wagon on here. Pretty clean by the looks

yea that looks allgood but i in south island. but i wont really be wasting money as i need to cert anyway for front mount adjusties ect. and i have a whole other car with all the bits there like everything. the brakes look the same to me???? are they different to a wrx????

Mate if you\'re up for it, totally go for it.

The hardest part will be rewiring your non turbo loom to a turbo loom. Once that\'s done and everything is running its just a straight bolt up from there for everything else you\'ll need. All the bold holes, holes in the engine bay etc will be there for you.

Just keep in mind all the things you will need to comply with to gain the cert for the engine swap (Turbo spec brakes, etc)

Best of luck with whatever you decide. It\'s your car, do what you want with it.

There will be a criteria you will need to comply with in order to get the cert. I remember reading an NZPC YEARS ago which had a bit of the info in the Q&A section.

Talk to your certifier for the full details and they will be able to guide you throughout the build. The basics will be brakes, suspension and other mods to ensure the car can handle you essentially doubling, if not tripling the power.

You will notice stis version 3 and up came with 4 pot brakes and lil bits. I didn\'t know you had a spare wrx. If that\'s the case go for it dude and you will learn heaps :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
