Main Starter relay? v2 wrx

can someone enlighten me on where the main starter relay is located on a v2 wrx?

Starter solenoid is wired from ign switch.

ok. well i have been having this issue for a while now on and off, sometimes when i go to start the car it will not crank over and act like the battery is dead but if i leave it for while and try again it will crank up with full power, now i have already eliminated the battery and alternator having replaced both recently.

even when it does start like normal there seems to be a slight delay in me turning the key and the car actually cranking over, sometimes takes longer than others but once it cranks it fires first pop every time

its actually very rarely that it wont start at all but has done it maybe 5 or 6 times, maybe unrelated but when it wont start i can hear some kind of clicking in the dash almost like a solenoid which im sure doesnt usually happen.

got any ideas?

Solenoid contacts in starter is most probably cause

will take one tomorrow and post up. what exactly are we looking for on the outside? i can pull it apart at work tomorrow if i know what to look for.

your starter must have a solenoid cover held on by 3x 8mm head bolts

Remove these bolts and the cover.

Solenoid plunger will pull out from here (check the contact face and clean up ONLY if required)

The two copper solenoid contacts will be obvious from here

Can purchase new ones from Auto sparkies or Ripco

ok took it apart today, contacts and plunger definately worn, the surface looks quite burnt i took some pics and ordered the parts needed. i will do a write up when i get a chance.

problem seems to be fixed, and finally did a writeup today
