2005 GT B Wagon Help - Nav/LCD help

Hi just got me new wagon but the screen in central console reads in japenese. A few questions, can this be converted to English? If so who does it? If not can you remove this kit without affecting the operation of the car? If so what would you replace it with? Cheers

Hey Mate,

welcome along. I was in the same position when I bought my new wagon. From mt experience most units out of Japan are only made for the Japanese market. The brand I have sell all over the world but the model is only sold in Japan. I have English button around the outside and plenty of symbols/English dotted around so I can sue the unit just fine. The GPS half though is a dark world. The maps are built in for Japan too so it has no idea where you are.

If you can work yours out as easily as I did then they are great systems for playing CD/Radio (but you might need a band expander like I did). If you cant work it out and can't find someone Japanese too have a look and see if there is a language function then you can also have the unit removed and replaced with a standard single din unit so long as yours is not integrated into the heater controls as I have seen some are.

Yeah mine came with the double din dvd/satnav thing but just pulled it out and put my normal stereo in with a spacer pocket underneath to keep cds in.

I didn't want to buy an expander for the radio, and generally don't watch movies in the car. It's like watching tv on your cell phone?

Hi thanks for the comments - the panel I'm referring to is the LCD with the round things on it! If you have a look at this auction it has the same screen -

Thinking about pulling it all out and replacing with the standard bin - if I do this where could I get the standard legacy storage bin console from?

If thats the kenwood unit - you may be able to get it reflashed into english using american firmware. The older Clarion units (98-04) cannot be changed into english.
