help with surplus wiring & alarm

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Today I've been trying to remove the TV antenna & wiring that came with my car, and while doing that I came across a massive amount of surplus wire that connects to nothing (left over from a GPS / TV tuner / god knows what else) and I'm a little concerned that if I remove this redundant wiring that it may screw with my alarm & immobilizer.

Heres a pic:

and here is a pic of where it joins the cars ECU (small red plug at centre left) :

Rational part of me says that seeing as how none of that wiring was connected to anything when the alarm was installed - it shouldn't change things if the wiring is removed. Just wanna check first before I go all snip happy tho!

Any alarm / electronics experts out there able to tell me if I'm likely to run into trouble if I remove all the cables?

cheers :)

don't touch it unless you know what you are doing and the entire loom is out of the car

before hand. it's kind of pointless just chopping the wires off where they enter the loom,

and opening up the loom is a pretty big and complex task.

cheers guys for your comments.

all the excess wiring is just sitting there & is only connected to the original wiring loom at the ECU by that one lime green wire & red junction box.

I guess I'll label which wires I cut & hope if sh!t happens I can simply re-connect what I cut.

thanks fullas,

GPS makes sense, funny thing was, I think there was one yellow wire going from the surplus wiring the length of the car to the tail-light / brake light, wonder what that was for?

as long as your certain its not connected to anything then remove at will, but would recommend you remove 1 wire at a time then check everything still works before removing another, unless certain its got no other connections.

option 2, tidy it up... small cable ties and black tape = win

sounds like the best plan, cheers!

mate, there is at least a metre or two of wiring there - I'd rather loose it completely than have to hide it under the carpets.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
