Power Steering Unit Compatibility? BG5 and BJ?

Hey, the power steering on my BG5 GT Wagon has gone. (It does close to nothing, i have checked all the hoses for leaks and they dont seem to be the problem)

I can get the power steering pump and gearbox out of a first generation GT wagon for cheap/free.

Are they going to be compatible with my second generation legacy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

um not 100% but they will fit

I went the other way from a 1st gen to 2nd gen the hyrdralic lines are different and as they were an issue to fit i am guessing so are the subframes

go from second gen to first may be easier

My guess would be that it is more than likely the pump

Thanks for the reply, just so anyone reading this in the future knows:

I strongly advise against trying to replace the power steering pump on a EJ20H with the pump from an earlier model single turbo GT due to the following

- The twin turbo EJ20H power steering pump has a sensor on it, the earlier model single turbo EJ20 doesn't

- The reservoir return pipes are in different places and will not fit one another

- The seal interface between the reservoir and pump are different on the two models so you cannot simply swap over the reservoir.

The pumps and brackets look very similar and will bolt in but not really worth the effort of all the tinkering to get it to fit (and it wont have the sensor even after tinkering with reservoir)

Another point to note is that the mount between the pump and the bracket it different so its best to make sure you get the mount as well as the pump and reservoir

And at the end of all that my power steering still isnt working! Gahhh
