Weird overheating problem!

Recommended Posts

My car is doing some really weird shit at the moment.

The radiator fans are running non-stop, the temperature gauge in the car reckons it's overheating insanely, the AC pumps out NOTHING but cold air and when I touch the radiator after use it's cold and the engine block is only warm. I shouldn't be able to touch it after use!

Does anyone have any ideas?!?

temp sensor poked :)

Maybe. What model is it? Temp sensors for ECU and gauge are separate on early models.

Its on the engine side of the bottom rad hose. Put it in a pot of water on the stove with a thermometer. It should have a number on the thermostat like 78 or 82. Thats the temp in degrees celcius that the thermostat opens. If it doesn't open its stuffed.

Wouldn't it be easier to just have the car running for sometime and then feel the bottom radiator hose; cold = thermostat not opening.

Yeah but I'm trying to determine whether or not the thermostat itself is at fault or just not enough flow to it.

Hmmm... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that rust everywhere and water pissing out of the bottom of the engine is probably not a good sign... :(

Car's done nearly 200,000, cambelt needs doing and now there's this problem. I think it's rebuilt time. What do you all reckon?

My mate reckons it's my heater core. My oil is flawless. I only changed it about 500kms ago and it's still sweet.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
