Shaking steering wheel when breaking/turning

Hey everyone,

While going through the Rimutaka Hill road, I noticed the steering wheel was a bit shaky while I was breaking and turning.

1. Is that considered normal for twisty roads?

2. What could it be causing that potentially?

3. Please anyone could recommend a trustworthy mechanic in Wellington?

my money is on warped disks, is it only when they are hot?

has it gone away

I had it on Taupo track onece fairly violently, let them cool & seemed ok fr a few months after that so maybe not worth worrying about

if you still have it = new discs time

Any idea how much more or less I would spend to fix that?

If the steering is "wobbling" when you are turning and braking it could be a build up of pad material on the disc..

Does it do it when you brake in a straight line ?

Have you used the brakes in anger since you bought car ?

In a straight line I don't feel it shaking.

I didn't use the breaks in anger I guess, what would that mean? Like breaking really hard?

been far too long since I bought disks, price em up, can diy / handy man it yourself if you can change a tire, 2 more bolts to change discs I reckin theres a guide in the brakes & steering section if your lucky

Yep Go and find a deserted road and do some hard stops..Maybe 5 or 6 times from 100k's to full stop..

It may fix the wobble,might not..But worth a shot as it costs nothing..

Make sure there's no other traffic around when you try..

Edit..It may pay to check the front brake pads for wear..
