brumby questions (pic or explanation)

The only problem with early subarus....

Rust lol.

They all tend to have rust but there are still good examples around.

Ive seen near mint ones with rust, tidy ones that had rust cut out and some with piles of rust.

A good brumby tends to still hold there price for there age... but if you look round you can still find a good example... getting harder tho...

What do you want to use the brumby for?

Look for rust around the windscreen, rust on doors, rust around the hinges, rear wheel wells deck, sills etc.

some times they are hard to select 4wd hi/low front wheel drive... normally due to the bushes are worn and have a lil bit of slop in them. easy to replace fix I beleave.

My brumby some times has that problem... but saying that I dont use 4wd much any way. just have to fiddle and you can eventually get it back into front wheel drive.

Remember not to use brumby in 4wd on tarmac/concreat surfaces, due to it being locks in true 4wd and has No center diff.

They are a good ute and canot be faulted in my book. Relible, cheap to run, bullet proof, will go any where :)

went and had a look today, got 3 hopefully for the price of a tow truck to pick them up..... yep, i see what you mean by rust.....dam 2 of the 3 are well rusted, floor pans and sills seem to be the most rusted, but the other Ute seems to be OK, its going to get stripped and any rust fixed as there is a few wee places that need repaired. will get pics up once they arrive, the 1st 2 are the older circular head lite version, and the good one is the square headlights.... dont know chassis numbers ...yet

What is required to swap the hubs over to 5stud, has anyone on here done it before?

And if peoples have mounted a stereo - where have you put the speakers?

A few people have done it on the Omega sedans, i think there was issues getting hubs to fit the rear of the brumby because of its torsion bar thing.

Or you could do the popular mod and drill out a set of hilux rims to fit.

In the past some of my mates have converted dizzies to run boost on carbied cars by finding a suitable diaphram to changing the timing, does know if the Ea82t run a dizzy as such and if they are any different from a Ea81? or do they run some 'futuristic' type setup,

any info would be appreciated

There are lots off different dizzes just for the ea82 engine. Theres atleat 2 different if not more for the EA82T

Ea81 has points. apart from some rarer models etc

OK so I got the brumby, it needs a fair amount of work tho but i want to see if i can get it going in the mean time, but the coil has been removed, and I'm unsure of what goes where, I'm keen to try and throw another coil in, can anyone post a pic of a carby ea motor in particular the coil/battery area. or a detailed explanation would be good.

cheers

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
