Lights Wiring

Well long story short, the P.O had some LEDs setup behind the tweaters and window unit of the door. When you turn your lights on the LEDS turn on. Needless to say I have got over them (understatement) and taken them out. I simply removed the LEDs and joined up the wires where applicable and then wrapped them in tape to stop them shorting out.

Well now the light behind me dash does not work, the boost gauge back light doesn't work and the lights under the headlights don't work either.

Does anyone have an idea on how the guy wired it up judging by the information? I have realized now that I shouldn't take the easy way out and properly remove all the wiring.

Any advice would be much appreciated (such as the location etc)

Cheers

ooooooo..... have a look at your fuses.... might of popped a few. Joining up the bare wires may not have been the greatest idea.

Where abouts are you? maybe someone in your area can give you a hand

What a pain in the ass. I'm ready to take a sledgehammer to it. >:(

after spending a decade taking doors apart, headunit out and a whole lot of interior crap I managed to remove *most* of the wiring. I say *most* because there is one wire that I haven't got a clue about.

Anyway the LED's were wired up to the cigarette lighter, two wires one to each door. These have been taken out. Now there is one black and white wire left connected to the lighter. It goes to the driver's side of the car and then goes up right next to the door (where a heap of wiring for the car is). It looks like its going up towards my boost gauge on the right side window frame but the boost gauge doesn't have any black and white wires going to it. Well the LED on the right hand side of the door was connected to a black and white wire which is still in the door because I couldn't get it out. Unfortunately I ran out of daylight so I couldn't take that door apart and get a better look.

My guess is that wire is somehow connected to something so that the LED's light up when the LIGHTS are turned on. Because if the LED's were wired straight to the lighter, they would go all the time - would they not?

How do I check if a fuse has blown?

No wonder electricians get paid so much....

your lighter socket should have a ring around it that illuminates, so they will have taken a feed from that illumination.

The easiest way to check for a blown fuse is to pull them out and visually inspect them

This is a blown fuse:

This is a good fuse

you will find the fuses under the dash on the right hand side and also in a box under the bonnet.

Pull them out 1 by 1 putting them back as you go as you dont want to end up with a big pile and then not knowing which one goes where

  • 2 weeks later...

Forgot completely about this thread :o

Just to let people know it did blow a fuse, but I managed to correctly remove the wiring and replace the fuse. The other wire I wasn't sure about was in fact going to the boost gauge (the back light).

Thought I would let you guys know everything worked out ;)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
