Lost my boost!

I'm running a stock V7 STi RA Spec C. Parked my car at the airport, got back and drove home. On the motorway, heard a couple of funny rattles from the engine bay, which went away. But now the car is a bit boost crippled. Lots more turbo lag, and definitely not hitting full boost any more. Popped the bonnet, and at idle there's a definite high pitched wheezing sound which is loudest when I hold my ear right over the BOV (but isn't the BOV itself, it's deeper).

The car idles normally, no engine fault codes. Nothing else obvious under the bonnet, no loose hoses.

I'm presuming I've got an boost leak somewhere along the intake tract. Anything else I need to think about before I start tearing apart my engine and replacing gaskets?

go buy a stethiscope and put a piece of bundy tube on the end (you can buy from supercheap)and find out exactly where its coming from

Sound like a dissconected vaccume hose, I had a simmilar problem on my way to Taihae when my T hose split. I lost boost and there was a loud hissing kinda sound. Used some duck tape and was all good untill I got back to Hamz.

Check the return/plumbing hose to the bpv/bov that may have split or worn out.

Those hoses are definately hooked up, there's no hissing, and the wastegate actuator arm is plugged on properly.

My biggest fear is that the uppipe cat may have disintegrated and shat itself into the exhaust wheel of my turbo. It's rare, and my car isn't particularly high mileage (102,000km) or thrashed, but I really don't like the idea of $1k USD + shipping for a new VF34.

old fuel in tank caused pinging and the ecu must have pulled things back.. thats my guess...

thats hoping no other things have gone wrong...
