How do I change the stop light bulbs (outer ones) on a BH wagon?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get at the back of them to change the bulbs!

Take the light assy out (should be 3 bolts around the tail panel and one partway up the inside guard).

Vola.

Whoever at Subaru decided to take the access panels in the boot out for easy bulb changing needs to be shot.

Er, where do I find these bolts? Are they behind all the rear trim? Cos that looks like a pain in the arse to get out.

8mm long socket works well usually.

At least the ones on my old commie could be accessed without pulling the entire interior out. All it took was moving some carpet really.

They do it to prevent water leaks into the cabin. Pity they fucked up with the garnishes on those.....

Haha too true.. but that being said, I've never had any leaks in my GC8's even after taking the lights in and out on many occasions and not replacing the sealant on them... Even then, it's nothing a bit of Selly's Instant Gasket can't fix!

I think it might be more to do with cracked lenses. My BF5 is the same - open lamp glued to the body and never had any leaks.

I managed to get them off, it wasn't has hard as I was expecting.

Only problem I have now is the LED stop lights I've installed cause the ABS light to come on and disables the ABS entirely! So I've had to put one normal bulb back in for the moment until I come up with an alternative solution.

You need to run a resistor in parallel. An LED is an open circuit to the bulb monitor. I would check the resistance of the old bulb and fit a resistor that is slightly higher resistance than that.
