Beeping when brake pedal is pressed

Hey team,

Just went to move my car up the drive tonight.

It started as per normal except when I put my foot on the brake it started making the beeping noise that normally only happens when it is in reverse.

( 2000 B4 AT )

Will beep if the park lights are on, same with the fog lights however with the fog lights the beep is quieter when the pedal is pressed.

Also trips a relay near the trans shifter and causes the dash lights / stereo lights etc to all dim.

I'm guessing its a short of some kind..

Any ideas ?

Check your stop lamp bulbs. The filament may have blown and dropped on to the park lamp filament.

Interesting problem both of my BC5s have, that isnt immediately obvious, is the driver's side door switch being faulty and triggering the key-on-door-open beeper every time you make a right turn, so it could be related (I am not aware whether this fault occurs on BE/BH)

I found le problem.

One of the earths on the harness had come out hence why the reversing lights were barely working etc.
