Fuel Pump or coils Dying??

agent

Recommended Posts

Whats the symptoms of a fuel pump crapping out??

Ever since I bought my BG5 its been quite hesitant when you put your foot down from low revs, almost bunny hopping. And also at high boost the car is hesitant and on 2 occasions while passing on the open road it has completely cut ignition in 3rd gear at around 100km/h. I'm pretty sure its not the coils or plugs, as I have recently replaced the spark plugs, and the coils looked quite new, is there any way to test them??

Thanks in advance for any advice.

As for cut out - sounds more like boostcut !

Out of interest Rick, how do you test the coils? Properly that is :) I may have a slightly dodgy one that created a miss during the tune at 6500rpm and would rather relace the faulty one than all 4 if I can help it.

Back on topic, I had a very similar thing happen when my alternator died but it cut out a few times, bunny hopped like that and then stopped not long after.

still having the problem, Ive not really had the time to work on it. I have recently changed AFM but I might switch back to the old one because it htink it has got worse.

A bit of of info on testing coils would be mint too, surely they have some sort of resistance value they need to be close to or something.

Cheer

took car in to mechanic to check for fault codes.

AFM showed up (must have been the bunny hops yesterday)

Replacing with a Genuine from Subaru, $226

Will update if any better tomorrow!

Here's hoping

Dyno run coils on test bench, to check output

usually at 8000rpm

and high boost setting for gap

Also check insulation of coil during this test

Woohoo!! Have solved the horrible engine issues with the new Air Flow Meter. The dude at Winger even gave me a discount. Merry Christmas (wish he had told me about the funny screw driver i needed to remove it though).

My beast is running like new again... well, for now anyways.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
