V3 STi heads

Hi all,

I've got cracked LHS head on my 1997 V3 type R and need to replace it.

Other than the cams are the sti heads any different to non-sti heads?

Yes they are a different profile and the main difference between the two.

But are the head castings exactly the same?

If i put my sti cams in a non-sti head will it be the same?

it will be fine, theyre practically the same port design when theyre the same version anyway,

Castings are the same, as well as port shape.

That great news, thanks....will make the job alot cheaper as people seem to want huge money for STi heads.

Do you know what years will be the same as mine? I assume V1 and V2 are different?

yes, unless you have the intake manifold it wont work well/easily. late 96/97 are the heads your after

what about V4, v5 & V6 head, are they the same too?

V7 onwards are would be different because of the AVCS right?

v5 and 6 are different again,

V3 and V4 are the same, early V1 and V2 manifold will bolt up.

V5 and V6 are the same but will not utilize your manifold or previous versions either.

V7 onwards can not use any manifold from previous versions.

v5/v6 and v7/v8 manifolds are compatible you just would need to use top feed inj for the v7/v8
