Alternators Whose been there?

As above has anymore pulled one apart?? any tricks to doing it or straight forward? i have one with a noisy bearing or bushes

Also are EJ18 and EJ20's the same? ie both have same round plug on the back and same amps? in case i can find one cheaper than the other

easy as, bearings are also easy, hardest thing is getting the front pully off if you need to get it off.

if you dont need to take off the pully. just undo the screws, and it will pull apart, you may need a screwdriver to pry it open at the beginning.

Yeah, pulling it apart and changing the bushes is easy as. Bushes won't be making any noise though, so if you think there's noise then it'll be the bearings.

check your brushes while your at it, there also not hard to replace. dont think they cost to much either

the noise is coming from the back rather than the front, from memory bearings in the front brushes in the back?

Looks like you need to take the pully off to get the front cover off??

theres a bearing in the back aswell

once you do the bearings the voltage regulator will go from beating the bearings out.. so replace it.

use a bearing puller, not a hammer. lol
