engine codes 32 and 11

the wrx has started to play up on me and it decides to just shut down when driving and after what i thought was a fuel pump/relay issue(cos she would start after a fiddle with connections or just removing pump and putting back in)now she's throwing the codes 32(oxygen sensor) and 11(crankshaft position sensor) at me and is refusing to start, when she did start it wouldnt idle properly and when trying to give her some juice all you can hear is like a ticking sound then she dies,

Any ideas???

another question is does one cause the other to go?? Is there a reason why these faults would come up???

if your cran pos was not right, it could be fueling wrong, so exhaust fumes are wrong confusing you o2 sensor?

check your cranksensor, make sure its clean? maby try another one?

wheres this cranksensor located?

under the alternator generally, think its brown? plastic looking, held in with a 10mm? bolt.

is it directly under alternator?? had a look today and seen sumfn bolted to top of engine

under the alt??? im thinking thats it??

Looks like this

the silver bit is down in the block all you will see is a brown or black plug ontop held in with a 10mm bolt as smurff said... should take about 5 mins to change if everythings cold

and a sensor out of any subbie will work or do i have to get one out of the same model??

From what the wreckers have told me, there are 2 types identified by the colour the plug is... either black or brown... apparentally they work the same, just the splines on the plug move so its not possible to plug the other one in.

ok i have a black one in mine and have just scored a brown one, will the bown one fit??

whats this spline you speak of??? moving?? nothing on this brown one moves unless its internal???

plugs the same unsure if will fit in the hole (common prob i have) ,

about to try it out, looks the same as the pic above tho

maby it wont fit in the hole, from what lan_Killa has said. best way to find out. . . stick it in the hole

so the brown one hasnt helped , turned on and idled for around half a minute then konked out, and now wont start again ,

gonna try find a black sensor now and go from there...

unless anyone has any idea's???

do you want to check the cam angel sensor is clean ?

when looking at teh engine, its above the RHS top cam gear. looks the same as the crank one. i do believe they are slightly different sensors though

checked and cleaned...stil no luck....
