  1. If you were to research car history of the period you'll find 380bhp WAS a high output for the time. : The 850CSi's competitors all had less; Porsche 928 GTS 350bhp, TWR Jaguar XJS 320bhp.
  2. I'll take the red one then. That was true in the '90s but since Mercedes got rid of that dead dog Chrysler their quality has recovered. Now it's the Japs who have been resting on their laurels.
  3. That's the last version of the E30 M3. Many M3 cognoscenti reckon the original 87 2.3L was the best. In the past few months there have also been a couple of 04 E46 M3 CSL's priced at $80k-ish.
  4. mrt-turbo-data http://www.mrtrally.com.au/performance/docs/turbo-data.pdf
  5. Dunno, the purists were shocked when BMW turfed out the fantastic S54 3.2L straight six and stuck a V8 in there. The original M-philiosophy (adopted by Honda for their Type R cars) was NA with power through lots of revs. Future emissions and fuel economy restrictions have put the kibosh on that. The latest X5M and X6M are a taste of M cars to come; medium sized (4.4L), turbocharged V8s. Yep, I'm an elite-ist, I hate everything crap. ;D
  6. Agreed. If stock it will be a VF28, which is basically a VF24.
  7. Fanboy only if they provide a better driving experience. There are plenty of crap current and past Audi/BMW/Mercs. Toyota/Lexus aren't perfect either, they get regular recalls to fix problems too. ;D Mercedes SLK is the highest ranked 2009 JD Power Compact Premium Sporty Car
  8. Crap. Nice engine, stupid gearbox, ugly, cheap 'n nasty interior. Not great value for money either. ISF $145k, M3 sedan $152k A friend over the pond was looking at one, bought an M3 sedan instead. A Lexus may be cheaper to buy and run but they are appliances for people who really don't care about cars. Well made and reliable but an appliance all the same. A 3-series (E46, E90) may not be as reliable but they are much more stylish and betere designed plus much more satisfying to drive.
  9. Altezza/IS250 etc are Ok for Jappas but still a world behind an Audi A4/ BMW 3-series/Mercedes C-class. ;D
  10. UK cops playing catch-up. Wonder what the crims will counter with ? New Jag XFR ? A fast Audi, BMW or Mercedes ? 8) http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/27/uk-police-replace-imprezas-with-lexus-is-f-cruisers/
  11. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/23/video-tiff-needell-and-actor-john-barrowman-crash-subaru-rally/ Maybe Barrowman was still in his Capt Jack role ?
  12. Wax on, wax off Karate Kid (due for another crap Hollywood remake ??? ) style is good for you ! Follow PFS's advice. He's the expert in the field. No need to specifically use Meguiars or any other brand, as PFS said earlier, the product is only ~20% of the job. Correct application and sound methodology is much more important. One final comment; as you'll probably be doing all this inside this weekend, make sure you have good ventilation. ;D
  13. RIP. His quattro was legendary. :'(
  14. Had a quick peek, a so-called World Premiere model, bit like some consumer Early Adoption Programs. 2.5L, CVT. Full launch in September. If anything uglier in the metal than in photos. Like the latest Imprezas, the new Legacy is very Korean looking (like a Holden Cruze) with typically crap Subaru interior. This magazine seemed to like it though... http://www.gaywheels.com/2010_subaru_legacy.htm
  15. Wash your mouth out ! A good wheel alignment is one of the most cost effective ways to fine tune a car's handling.
  16. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/2590477/Police-vehicles-losing-radars Maybe the rozzers will do some real policing now. ;D
  17. 'nuff said. Begs the question why did you choose Subaru virgins for your tuning ? Like taking a Benz to a BMW dealer...
  18. Capt Slow meets Ken Block ! http://www.quickflicksnow.com/links/?id=2862
  19. Cheers for the endorsement ! Yes, most products will do a similar job, Meguiars is just what I had in my garage. It's the old "not what you have but what you do with it". Thanks for pointing out the two-bucket method and putting to rest the automotive application of the five-second rule. ;D
  20. Good choice and good graphics. It's important to realise that blue light is of the shortest wavelength, meaning it is easily diffused and hard for human eyes to assimilate. So all those dorks with bluer than blue lights not only have reduced light output but they also running half blind. ;D
  21. Your last comment is actually pretty close to the truth. Lots of driving/fog lights ARE incorrectly set, even on brand new cars, I've lost count of the cockeyed new Holdens and Falcons with lights ablaze. They can be a PIA, especially in bad, non-fog conditions like rain where the light is diffused causing glare. Jury's still out on the usefulness of DRL's, most Euro manufacturers don't want them. If an idiot is going hit someone, the target will get hit regardless of whether lights are on or not. I drive a high visibility car, turn my lights on when conditions call for it and still have idiots aiming for me at intersections etc. !
  22. Volvos and a host of new Euros like the Audis with their little rows of LED lights up front are using Daytime Running Lights, low powered for daytime visibility. Optional now, EU are trying to make them compulsory by 2011. Rules on usage of auxililary lights is covered in the Road Code. As DRFVDR said, if it ain't foggy they shouldn't be on. Back in the cop thread someone posted they had been stopped and cautioned about their foglights. In the old days it was Euro drivers who constantly drove with their front AND rear fogs blazing away. Now its every wanker and his missus in a late model Holden or Falcon or f u c kwitz in their JUCs. MORONS all !
  23. Yes, but you can also heel 'n toe without double-declutching which is what the Nissan system does. There's even a Wiki page on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heel-and-toe http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/howto/articles/45792/article.html
  24. That would be a double-declutch, a different procedure to a downshift blip. [quote name='cpt kernow said: I drove a merc AMG630 v12 supercharged that did the meanest double clutch and exhaust backfires when you lifted the gas! To have it on a nissan would be cool. Now I'm going to read up on the electronic retrofit so my mrs doesn't keep destroying engine mounts on downshifts. ? What model's that ? Didn't know the SC V12's did the downshift blip.
