  1. There's all manner of places who will sell you the bits you want/need There's a few places who reflash them too Shipping doesn't need to cost heaps? A turbo and some bits doesn't weigh all that much Try nzperformance, tell him marky sent you
  2. Just weld a plate over it, never worry about a leak again
  3. Basically this is like saying "I want to build a mean GTR" and starting with a gte shell -if- you had a written off STi you were swapping the running gear from, then sure it's a great plan and makes sense or -if- you were starting with a rare or odd shell, say a 2dr GC you got for $500 or you found a repairable late model shell or something, then it's worth it cause you end up with something worth more than the sum of it's parts... Ditto for if you're putting an unusual motor in, say ez30 which is a (near) bolt in proposition But realistically, I imagine you're going to pour 10k into what will ultimately end up being a grunty V7 shape not-wrx? You could flick yours for say 5k, buy an sti for 8-10, then these days another few grand could net you a 300kw car (spent wisely) And it'd have brembos, all the cool bits, AND resale value Not trying to be deliberately cynical but I hate seeing money get thrown on reinventing the wheel
  4. Put it this way, you do have a WRX The exact model seems odd, but it is still a turbo 2l early impreza so why worry Only query would be maybe if it's an ex-stolen or dereg then tag swapped car, you could confirm that with checking a few serial nos etc
  5. To be fair if you listed every impreza with sti badges you'd have far far worse examples and far more of them (or older legacy... or forester). This is a pretty tidy car and it's done in good taste, who cares, he makes it very clear it's just "STi Parts added" not the car being some special edition No different to every second BMW on the road getting random M badging
  6. Black handles, mirrors, no spoiler holes Curious?
  7. -car- trailer not a single axle mini trailer
  8. Ok I got the wrong park, but it was full of campervans Hint #1 Hint # 2, with bonus furballs
  9. If it has one bulge on each side, then yes SOHC If it has a more oval shaped one with two circles, then it is DOHC
  10. I'm pretty sure I've used freeSSM with andy's 2.0 cable? Unless it was just my cheap vag-com cable thing in which case I stand corrected Can you just load an AUDM rom onto yours maybe?
  11. Wait, which TD04's are we talking about, I'm thinking in mitsi terms - then when they end up too small you go td05 Plan B twin T25's or T28's Better yet twin GTST T3's for maximum induction and zututu noise at minimum cost The only reason to stick with bastard subaru turbos is cause that what bolts on to subaru up-pipes
  12. Devils advocate here 97 has been used as a trackday toy and a WRX motor is far more likely to have had a hard life, it's not the kind of c Just buy an 03-onwards wagon
  13. Anything top mount will still heat soak The issue isn't when getting dyno tested, or run on the track, it's when it sits for five mins in traffic and takes a couple hundred metres to cool down again Example: Motorway onramp, drag staging lanes, stop go traffic which clears and you want to fang it Go FMIC and be done with it
  14. I still hadn't grown up past sniggering at calling it Markys Meat Um yeah I dunno, I'm socially retarded at best so ideas come at a slow rate of knots I'm afraid. Very open to suggestion from the three local people interested Maybe an open invite to get peeps coming to the mt from round the area (like hams & auckland etc) on a weekend to all meet up on the waterfront and perve at cars
  15. If it's an auto V1 wrx then my advice is it's scrap value, just buy a running V7 if that's what you want Price of a motor, 6sp box and full loom etc you'll need is approaching that of a running 01 STi anyway (especially once you factor in the extras like the interior and brakes you get too)
  16. Oh I meant the factory exhaust manifolds, same as a cheap 1UZ turbo setup gets done I'd just +T it high comp, don't even open it up. I mean you could pour 10k into making it 600hp or spend $500 and still make a comfy 350odd with great tow capability haha I imagine you have seen the "sloppy mechanics" builds on the internets? they do a lot of exactly this
  17. Your cars interior is tan, that doesn't match But that's okay, mine is black, so it will match I'll come pickup this weekend yeah? Is the right thing to do
  18. What revision is your car - it'll say BE5A-B-C-D on the build plate If ABC then you can just read the flashes and don't need any cable If D then you'll need to get it read via OBD2 and the flashes mean nothing At least the car knows what's wrong, no need to guess
  19. Twin low mounts I reckon. 3 cylinders to each, could maybe just use factory manifold reversed and mount them low-front, run the IC core up-down with twin inlets at bottom from either side and one outlet at the top So long as the oil drain is below horizontal you're golden Twin td04's would be cheap as to acquire, plumbing is relatively simple in theory (I dunno what room there is to work with is the only hiccup) - imagine a 300Z motor really I would
  20. Drove past mine at the panel shop My loaner is a BH5 2l N/A... It's weird, it's like the same car but minus 200hp Also doesn't set off car alarms or light up the neighbourhood on decell which is ****
  21. Have you ever watched a dog chase a lazer dot I'm getting deja vu here Take it to a garage, otherwise you're literally replacing non - expendable parts to remedy a problem that may not even exist Simplest way to make your car feel fast again is drive something underpowered for a fortnight
  22. Any new photos man? I remember seeing these yeeeears ago
