  1. Hey guys, so finally have some time back in the garage and Ive started to wire up my engine into the Impreza, but have run into a problem. im using the engine loom from the legacy but the plugs are the same for the body loom, but if i use the loom off the engine in the car then the TPS, crank and cam sensors have different connectors. will the crank and cam sensors work if i swap the sensors over(currently on motor they have fly leads off them, Impreza look like the plug directly on) the Throttle body is different to the one on the car at the moment, the legacy one is quite short, whereas the impreza one is about twice as long making fitting my intercooler impossible. alos even i can plug all this in will my possum link work with the new body wiring? its all tuned etc in the legacy and is tuned for the motor so I need to use this ECU. any help appreciated Cheers
  2. +1 http://www.possumbourne.co.nz/trans-and-diff-parts.html kit to make it locked 4wd/Front Wheel drive or rear wheel drive depending on install. replaces the bit you weld.
  3. spending anything less than this then dont bother, just get another one and swap when they blow up. 5G in mine with no machining or assembly cost. also the "while im here i may as well put this on" cost is pretty big, eg while your there you might as well put ARP bolts in, or forged rods to help with BeB, or race bearings rather than normal... etc etc. make a budget, double it and it you wince at the thought then just through another at it
  4. if you decide against i might be keen, make the new BC stand out
  5. know anyone that makes them?
  6. Hey guys, so with the new rally car build going really well in my head so far, ive pretty much lined up a shell and cage(once i can save coin for the cage) and my mind is wondering to making it stand out a bit. soo with that in mind i really like the look of the WRC rear wing on the later model car Doesnt anyone know where i can get one? yes i know they are expensive and im not after a carbon one(unless its cheapish lol), but if anyone know anywhere that makes them? ideally cheapish, overseas is fine for the right price, not in any great hurry just yet also front kits/guards for the BC legacys, there isnt anything that ive seen that looks the biz for rally so if you know of anything or have something tucked away in the shed let me know Also opinions welcomes as to weather that would look any good on the BC\'s, i know some purest may not agree but i want to try and make it stand out a bit
  7. Rolled it lol, photos/video/explaination to come later, me and codriver are all good
  8. nice!, yeah thropy was saying there had been a wee bit of work going on that car. yeah im looking forward to some stage times without dust in front of me. the later stages i got close to his times yeah was a bit of a moment, total mare of a corner, did anyone get it on video? thought my rally was over in the first 1km. scarey stuff those night stages in the dust!
  9. Canterbury Rally finished 23rd overall for my first ever rally including a 1:27 for the co driver to have a spew in the second night stage

althought i have the possum link i had my car i had it tuned at NZEFI, very happy with tune so far! even without the power side of things(which im happy with) the smoothness of the tuned on my motor afterwards is awesome! highly recommend
  13. tradme for the heat wrap, you can pick it up for like $12/10m ish depending on which one you have. buy more than you think you need, my headers& downpipe are double wrapped but we used like 5-6 rolls of the stuff
  14. +2 just been through this with rallycar, everything you touch costs money, but its question of while your there trying to make sure you dont end up rebuilding it again TBH if its just for a road car you wont beat something like these; standard rebuild, all done, no time delays(my motor took 8 months doing it myself, thorpy is few months in etc etc) http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/engines/auction-498261551.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/engines/auction-498788408.htm its the while your there what you put in that adds up.... new cambelt n water pump, new gasket set etc etc etc
  15. 4WD, only one class once your in 4wd for the rallysprints here matt Jansen was 1st overall(34 seconds ahead of me, 6km sprint) mike tall 2nd matt summerfield 3rd overall then 3 more 4wd's and then me, one off a trophy
  16. Raced it at Makerikeri rd rally sprint, got 13th/37 and 4th in class, first run with new engine was awesome! great fun
  17. awesome news, hope they get the book thrown at them
  18. moved under boost i believe, so when they checked with the motor off it complied, but then the boost came on and move so air moved around it and moved the hole further away so they got more air.
  19. yep works great, toyota had variable restrictors, lots of horsepower, also thrown out of WRC for a year. motorsport rules are restrictor is 1 piece and complied at any temperature. the different sizes are differnt class's, eg my car falls in open 4wd(pre 92) so is a 36mm, group N is 33mm now i think, WRC is 32mm i think (if anyone can confirm or if im wrong feel free to correct) good to see you can still get a decent chunk of power out of restricter motors still, mine should make a bit more with more boost via a G4 etc. What do you find is the best turbo for the restrictors? im running a 36mm Cheers
  20. Model: Legacy Rally Car Name of Dyno: NZEFI Date of run: 16/7/2012 Fuel: AV gas V4 Sti heads, possum link, VF28 with average design restrictor, extractors
  21. been away for a wee bit, racing in australia, thought you guys might like to see what i do this is a video of hotlaps, done with a suction cup mount and Gopro mounted to the boot of our VP commodore during a hot lap with me driving(hot lap is taking kids for ride so not full race speed, just lots of sidewaysness) and a wheel shot for shits and giggles on a different track have a bunch of other shots as well if you guys are interested, front cams, helmet cams n stuff, let me know if you want the links once ive got them up the Event is called mudbash, approx 40 cars, 3rd year in a row we have come 2nd in the rover team, but we came first in the non rover team i got 1 2nd and 2 3rd on my tracks(team of 3 drivers) and other drivers got a 1st and a 2nd as well
  22. i havent looked at this, but might be a good starting point IF the cage is all good etc, if your looking at a long project im sure a revin wont be hard http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/specialist-cars/competition-cars/auction-480367639.htm basic stuff is there, paint your own colour, throw some good bits at it and away ya go either that or start with a nice car, better car you start with the better car you end with or option 3, just buy one and go racing when your back here rather than building it, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/specialist-cars/competition-cars/auction-459133390.htm BC5, cheap panels etc etc
  23. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/mazda/engines/auction-473976606.htm 2.25"-2.5" (57mm-63mm) 2.25"-2.75" (57mm-70mm) 2.25"-3" (57mm-76mm) should be able to adapter from there
  24. hey there, just putting my motor back together and the crank angle and cam angle sensors do have anywhere to plug, have looked through a wiring loom and can see they are meant to plug into a similar place as the knock sensor, but only have 2 plugs that arent even close to the front of the engine is there a piece of loom im missing? and if so do anyone have a spare i can buy? Cheers
