  1. Yeah mana would be one of the last to go if it all goes. Until transmission gully is done I guess haha
  2. Thankfully more stations in Wellington have 98 than don\'t!
  3. lol - not actually that common, might be the pretend monkeys undoing stuff the wrong way ? theres many threads on nasioc / iwsti of this occurring, as supposedly there\'s a typo in the service manual where they\'re supposed to be torqued to 80ftlbs but it says 114, which is almost the max strength of the bolt.He took it to his mechanic to do the fronts and another bolt did the same thing. In saying that, the one we took off my car was fine [quote name='We are borg said: If you cant find anyone to do it, send it to me And I will do it /quote] I\'ve hopefully found somewhere to do it but thanks. And yeah I\'ll be replacing the bolts with new I doubt that the maximum strength of a caliper bolt would be so low 114 ft/lb is not very high, Perhaps not, I can\'t find where I got that info from now Also a clarification on the 80ft-lbs thing for anyone\'s future reference; 80ftlbs is what Brembo specify for the front calipers. The rears as per Subaru are 47.9ftlbs which sounds about right. (M12-1.5 vs M10-1.5)

  5. I believe it is M10x1.5 according to google. 17mm rear brembo caliper bolt. I don\'t have a drill press or similar so I can\'t drill it out myself (and thus probably also can\'t install a helicoil?). Based on google these require helicoiling almost 100% of the time because they fuck the thread so badly. [quote name='We are borg said: would a soaking it in a penetrant then using an easy out + heat not work Penetrant didn\'t help and I\'m hesitant at using heat on an aluminium caliper (yes they\'re subjected to heat but not exactly the same). I don\'t have any easy outs but I don\'t think it would be able to get it out as those bolts are 80ft-lbs+ and I\'m a little girl
  6. Macbilt said to take it to a \'proper\' engineering place, do we have any recommendations?
  7. On an unrelated note, BNT think that non turbo rear pads fit brembos. Wtf BNT, wtf.
  8. So we were changing rotors on lagbort\'s v7 STi and one of the caliper mounting bolts snapped in half in the caliper. This is according to my googling somewhat common due to steel + aluminum = weld themselves together (and I presume garage monkeys over tightening with rattle guns). Friend took it to an engineering buddy who managed to drill out the center to approx 50% hole size, but was unable to remove. Solution seems to be to machine it out and then get a \'helicoil\' put in? Where would one take this in Wellington to have done. Macbilt?
  9. Take it easy round the inlet if it\'s in anyway damp out!
  10. Achilles ATR Sport? They\'re s***. They\'re the ones I was complaining about at the meet last week. (Providing you aren\'t bring sarcastic, lol) Unless you got the Achilles 123S or whatever the \'better\' one is, be interesting to see if those are ok
  11. Of course these things happen - there is no perfect WOF system
  12. I was fairly impressed by Goodyear Assurances in terms of well rounded wear and performance
  13. but your still alive = such a waste of money !!! My car (and my legacy while I had it) has always passed as I keep it well maintained. Could\'ve done $200 extra maintenance to make my car even more safe with that money! ;D My level of alive-ness is in no way thanks to paying a man to tell me what I already know. I do less than 5,000km\'s a year, which is why I was (and still am) an advocate of a \'distance travelled\' instead of \'time\' based WOF regime. Edit: Also this.
  14. This really is the solution. The amount of cars I see around with expired wof and/or rego is ridiculous. Police should stake out porirua pak \'n save car park, they\'d make thousands in fines
  15. The Taxi will have had many checks as it will have a CoF which is still required every 6 months as it is a commercial vehicle
  16. Thank god. I\'ve spent $200+ on passing wofs the last two years. Such a waste of money that has been
  17. If it\'s popular produce more and sell it everywhere herpaderpa. I find the above funny in the context of my local pak n save fuel reverting to BP branding and ADDING 98 a few weeks ago
  18. Probably starts working once it\'s down to a slick! Achilles *cat hissing noise*. Takes about 400 years to wear one out
  19. http://www.motorsport.org.nz/manual-amendments Fyi. A few posted in December and today, of note may be ones relating to logbooks, fire extinguishers and signalling.
  20. Perhaps all these departed cars means my dyno plot has a chance: Stock v7 Sti engine BP98 166kW at the wheels @ 16psi STM Dynapack dyno (I had two seperate boost leaks, my boost plot is rather hilarious) Really need to get it back on there and see what it does with proper boost!
  21. http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/8173083/Police-chase-stolen-car-in-Hutt I lol\'d.
  22. True enough, although there is still a massive difference imo. v7\'s are about 200kg heavier than earlier models yet the brembos still pull them up noticeably quicker and don\'t fade as badly. The effort / price as you say probably isn\'t worth it though - would\'ve been cheaper to get an STi sedan to start with. [quote name='Bugle said: v7 STi appear to have a bigger bonnet scoop, is that purely decorative or required to get the best from the larger ic? I know that chulozumo on here has put a v7 sti engine into his earlier model wrx and he\'s experiencing some issues with heat, one cause of which is arguably the smaller scoop (along with smaller engine bay and other reasons). You might as well do it if you can get hold of one!
