  1. I'll be down in Woodbourne (Blenheim) for work 28th Oct to 10th Nov - lets arrange a meet!
  2. Dynamat extreme definitely makes a difference. I have it in the coupe, but not in the wagon; the mid-bass response in the wagon is nowhere near as good. I bought a bulk pack and it's done my last three cars - half door behind speakers.
  3. Targa rally is coming up shortly; end of Oct. Normally quite a few from Welli go up - unfortunately I'm giving it a miss this year.
  4. http://www.craftbeercollege.co.nz/Coming-Up.html Follow up to beervana. Next Sat, 1st Sept, 2pm - Craft Beer College "The Miracle of Malt" at Hashigo Zake. $35pp. Who is keen? It's the first Saturday of the month for four months.
  5. It was mostly boutique, handcrafted, and organic chocolate - so a lot different to the mass-produced stuff. Although in saying that Whittaker's is quite good for mainstream stuff. I think I did a weeks chocolate in 3.5 hours - might have to go for a run tomorrow... I too did a few months stint opposite the Whittaker's factory, back in 2001 when Rawleigh's International were on Mohuia Cres.... They've since shifted to Petone under different management. The old building is a wreckers?
  6. http://www.chocolatefestival.co.nz/ Who is going? I was initially going to sneak off work early tomorrow and attend the 3-7pm session, but instead have tickets for Sunday 10am-2pm. Should be good - looking forward to it. It goes to show I'm not just a craft beer fanatic! On another note: Trying to organize a section lunch at The Tote tomorrow to try their Wellington on a plate burger...
  7. The review has Wellington ingredients: 3.5/5 - so it could very well be local Ostrich... Went there earlier with a mate. I had the Moa burger, and my mate had the Angus steak. The food was excellent, prompt service - and relatively busy for a Weds night in Island Bay. It was my first time eating Ostrich, and a quite a pleasing experience! A couple of Tuatara beers matched the food nicely. It's quite a big burger - I wouldn't suggest it for lunch, although the Wellington on a Plate finishes this Sunday 26th Aug.....not much time left. I'm not sure it's the sort of place suited to a mass meet? A lot of the tables seat 2-6 ppl. It's a nice quiet place; perhaps more suited to a date.
  8. I won a $50 voucher through Facebook. Unless there is another Jason Young in Wellington - unlikely as only 91 likes so far on their page. The Wellington on a Plate finishes this weekend. Not sure how long the Burger Wellington 2012 runs for... Here's a review on stuff: http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/local-papers/the-wellingtonian/wellington-on-a-plate/the-great-burger-challenge/7518767/Burger-25-The-Cheeky-Pipis-Moa-Burger
  9. Who is keen to try the Moa Burger at The Cheeky Pipi? Part of the Burger Wellington 2012 competion. $18 with fries http://www.thecheekypipi.co.nz/component/content/article/1-latest/58-moa-burger.html 163 The Parade Island Bay Potential 'unformal' meet?
  10. Might see you there! I'm about to catch a train from Upper Hutt - first time on a train in a few years...
  11. Wonder how much of it's still there, could be worth a nosey. A mate picked some mint V5 STI shocks off a wagon once for $65-ish complete set.
  12. How good is the soldering? What are you soldering to/from? A proper crimp is a far better (electrical) connection, esp if it's a poor solder (dry joint) connection. The main earth and power wires should never be soldered - anything larger than 8-AWG wire should be either crimped, or replaced with a single wire, the only joins being in the fuseholder and distribution block.
  13. Cool, how much was the s/hand alternator for those?
  14. Yeah if it happened at work; could have arranged for the apprentice VM's/Auto sparky's to have a crack at it... happily do perkie's for a box of beers! Got engineers too - so could fabricate custom mountings for a aftermarket alternator.
  15. I would come out for a nosey, but unfortunately: 1. I've been drinking 2. I'm based in Upper Hutt, 45 mins away NB: Battery's: Don't be paying the retail price, most can be had for $80-100, whereas they are $160-180 at the likes of Ripco, Supercrap, etc...
  16. I'm going on Sat morning 18th, 12-4pm Here is the complete list of beers on offer: http://beervana.co.nz/sites/default/files/Beervana%202012%20Tasting%20notes_ex%20Festive.pdf About to crack open a Mike's Taranaki Pale Ale, 500ml of 7% goodness, 2.7 std drinks in one beer
  17. That's a good price, I wonder how many RCA pre-outs it has though. It's got no CD player - which is a good thing. Seeing as I've never used mine. The USB ipod and SD card get the most use. The audio quality via bluetooth is slightly inferior. I have the Pioneer DEH-6450BT in both cars, but that was a $279 unit. Occasionally ~$250 from JB Hi-Fi.
  18. http://www.edsauto.co.nz/images/PDF_Catalogue/Aerials_Aerial%20leads.pdf You could use a regular band expander and these adaptors: ED-SU30 (pair) ED-SU10 (plug) ED-SU20 (socket)
  19. After spending two weeks drinking at the Sergeants mess in Woodbourne ($2.5 - $4 drinks); any bar outside of a defence base is expensive. For example; The Secret Garden in Blenheim $10 pints - good beer though. Moa, 8 Wired, Three Boys, Renaissance. I just noticed Kereru Brewing is based in Silverstream; will need to investigate... Smaller places tend to do better beer!
  20. It was about $26-30 incl drinks, so still a bit cheaper. Is there one in Welli? I guess to compensate for my absence; I should come to the next meet at Nando's in J'ville... Has anyone been to the Joe's Garage on Tory St? I've only walked past numerous times. (Originated from Queenstown, must have franchised out).
  21. La Porchetta was slightly cheaper! I think I spent $12-15? And they have beer. I noticed everyone was drinking Corona - still better than Tui, I guess!
  22. How was the meet? Good turnout? We had about 17-18 at La Porchetta in Papanui; not bad for late, last minute notice in venue! Actually; speaking of La Porchetta - is there one in Wellington? I've only been to the Akl (Hobson St) and Chch ones.
  23. I too, will be in Chch - keen to meet up? I'll be there Thurs/Fri. But have to be back in Blenheim for my flight on Sat morning 8-9am.
  24. Bugger I'll be in Christchurch! ....or heading back to Blenheim. I've had the Art of Meatzza and the BadaBing (with sausage) - both very tasty! You guys won't be disappointed If you want rugby after; the 7's bar is around the corner - usual hangout for a Friday night (for the Army fellas anyway). Saturday night is more for town (Welli).
  25. I maybe in town next Sat 21st July. Depending on how bored I get in Woodbourne base (Blenheim). Who has a place I can crash at for the night if I do decide to come for a drive down Cheers, in advance!
