  1. Now there is an idea! Having just done it, SH 1 around kaikoura is a bit of an event at the moment, it was pretty rough in a low car with coilovers. I think I got airboure at a couple points... The rest of it is 👌🏻
  2. They must be one talented gynaecologist to clean upholstery like that.
  3. I hired a rug doctor and went nuts on the new wagon, I gave the gc8 interior a quick clean too.
  4. Dark blue BP wagon in Rotorua, lowered with brembos, sti wheels and a bike on the roof. Rego EJJ something. 😍 Awesome looking wagon mate!
  5. Most likely not. Different width and different arch shape/design at the edges.
  6. You won't need a trim panel for your car @Subru, it is already double din sized. If you move to a single din radio then you can just buy a single din pocket to fill the other half. The factory support bracket should be fine. As for wiring you can either buy two loom adapters Subaru->ISO and ISO->whatever brand of radio you buy, or you can look up a wiring pinout and just crimp/solder the correct wires from the car to the loom supplied with the radio. The loom adapters are easy and plug and play but you end up stuffing an ugly, bulky ball of wires behind the radio. I prefer to crimp join the wires but both methods are fine.
  7. I bought a brand new fusion subwoofer with an opened box from the fb market place for cheap. Installed it after work in the gc for the sweet doof doof. It makes me feel like a bogan but it sounds much better than the poor door speakers trying to make bass.
  8. One of the garages can probably get them overnight from repco in queenstown or you could get them from partsouq.com but it will take like 6-7 days to arrive
  9. Usually not too bad, just can be a little tricky to find the perfect sized extension or combination of extensions to fit in the tight gap. Give it a go and if you have any issues flick me a pm and I come and help you sort them mate 👍🏻
  10. I can't say with your car specifically but usually you install the towbar with the bumper off and put the bumper on afterward. So you should be able to pull the bumper off on its own
  11. You could try the KYB AGX struts. You can get them from rockauto.com. They are damper adjustable but not height adjustable so no certification needed, @calebwrx has them. They are supposedly one of the better performing options before going adjustable, I haven't tried them myself but I am planning on buying a set if my STI struts start to fail.
  12. The way I see it, as long as there isn't more oil pushing into the loom at the sensor, the the oil already in there will have a tough time progressing further towards the ecu. Periodically cleaning out the strut tower plug is good since it tends to collect there. I'm not fully convinced the oil being in the loom is a big issue for most cars. I've unplugged the grey strut tower plug on maybe 30+ cars now. They have all had oil in there but most aren't having issues. I'm sure it can become an issue, but if the car isn't worth much I personally wouldn't worry about it. That is just my opinion.
  13. I have been going through the process of sorting my sensors which had been leaking for a while. There is a guy in Wellington who re-seals them which he claims is a permenant fix as opposed to replacing the sensors which will eventually start leaking again. Though in the case of a car worth $1100 new sensors would be an easier option. If the external leak is the main problem then replacing the sealing o-ring would probably fix that. The guy I was talking to also suggested cutting a small slit in the insulator of the wires on the small extension loom which goes to the sensor plug. This helps to give the oil another route out of the loom. Cleaning out the plug on the drivers strut tower periodically is also a good idea.
  14. I still hold the current Christchurch one from October 👍🏻 I'm going for South Island tag champion I reckon
  15. I'm going to be in Dunners for a week in April, if you start it i'll get it then haha.
  16. I'm in central. There are a few people around central and through to dunedin but not many on here that I know of. You are right about it being dead in this section of the forum!
  17. @mlracing.co.nz may be able to help you with an under manifold intake pipe if you are sure you want one. I don't want to spam the thread with pictures of my car but there is a glimpse in my profile pic or link to my garage thread in my signature. Hopefully I'll see you around. I've been torn on the 95/98 thing lately too. If you daily it, then having it tuned for 95 would be far more practical but you will likely miss out on some power. As for how much power I'm not sure exactly. I currently drive to Cromwell for 98 with two spare fuel containers for my gc8. It is a shame that the drive there isn't very interesting.
  18. Hey, good to see I'm not the only Subaru enthusiast in Wanaka! I feel your frustrations about being so isolated from everything. Are you planning to tune on 95 octane or do you get 98 from Cromwell? I drive a red/pink V7 wrx wagon around town quite a bit, flick me a wave of you see me about.
  19. Wait and see if the tune goes well and how you like it afterwards before you worry about the 'next mod'
  20. 212kw & 395Nm I'm guessing rising intake temp will be the limit if it is as hot in Wellington as it is here right now.

Bump. New year someone feel like getting this one?
  22. That is the retail price, boostin is talking about the trade price.
  23. Yeah cars are often miscatagorised. It pays to leave your search terms loose. I have a search for everything Subaru and manual transmission between certain 1990 and 2009.
  24. I always love seeing the development of this car. Great video.
