  1. Beware the 4-plug TT loom! Talk to the guy's who have done BG5A/BD5A's, and see what's required there. On the mechanical side of things, it's exactly the same to the BG GTB conversion.
  2. The brackets stop you from sliding it UP, which is the method i went with. They should be of no obstruction if sliding it down. I would have gone with the sliding down method, but i didn't have the header gaskets, so went with the turbo out and up method.
  3. Factory FTW. And don't go cheap, it's more than possible to get compressor surge with some BOV's, and that's undesirable to say the least.
  4. If you still have your up-pipe brackets, yes, you need to remove the turbo to get the bracket off. You can't take the up-pipe out without removing said brackets Believe me, i spent a f***ing hour trying last week. Also means you get to check the health of the turbo though, which for me was a bonus. But once the turbo is off, the up-pipe comes out easy peasy pudding and pie. The other option i suppose is to take the headers off, and slide it down, not up. But i think that's a little harder to do, you still need to take the downpipe off to get at the bolts, and you then need to get new header gaskets at $20 a pop (i hate re-using the factory crush gaskets).
  5. So how does one rust kill, cause i got some big f*cking spots on my roof, and you can't exactly swap a BG roof.
  6. *cough* lazy f*cker *cough* What, i ain't trolling or notin, i swear....
  7. Nice you see you're still hanging around ben, i still have the original photo of that btw.
  8. I second this entry!!! Here's mine, pick me pick me!
  9. What's wrong with road legal track cars...? Sure it adds some restrictions, but it's not that bad. The track car i have planned when i finally have money is going to be a road legal project...
  10. They certainly get better turn in. Oh if i won lotto, i'd be spending allot of money at the STi shop. Omnomnomnom
  11. lotech49 has a controller you could use to check, btw. Make sure it's not your controller that's bung.
  12. Someone else is going to go do it while he sits there all lazy like. Tisc tisc.
  13. Holy sheeeet, that's a good effort! The car will feel like a totally new beast!
  14. Yup, in short. To my knowledge late 98 to early 03 is all the same.. Spring rates etc may differ year to year, but fitment will be identical.
  15. Aaaaah, so it has happened before! Maybe this is a 3-plug BE/BH issue... But WHY is the big question, hmmmmmmm.
  16. Woopsies, it looks like you've posted doing illegal activities on a public forum! Don't expect much to come of this thread other than flaming. Sorry mate, but you gotta learn somehow!
  17. Mr. Monkey! Where are the shots we took!
  18. I think clubsub needs a dedicated general photography thread Neat shots greentape, can't wait to see what you can make that thing do (You need to get that whole back wheel in frame )
  19. That's not how I understand how it works, but yeah, we left it disconnected for half an hour, with no results. Maybe glen needs to do the connectors-plugged-together-and-drive-over-10kph trick
  20. Is the nut that holds the wheel on done up? Take the airbag out, or whatever may be in the way, and check maybe...
  21. I've done a fair few ZS controller installs now... I've done, I think over 7, and have managed to do one on every type of TT loom. I've had CEL's in past, and all you do is check it, "oh look, such and such sensor is not getting to the ECU". Simply check the wiring, and sure enough, it's usually a wrong wire, or something silly. Well, I isntalled one on glens BE (Omegah) the other day, and got a CEL. 'Sweet, this has happend before, no worries', so we looked it up, and it's the differential pressure sensor. I checked the wiring, all good. Checked ALL of the wiring again, and all good. Had someone else check all my wiring, and it was all good... Random... I did some more digging around, and it turns out I had lent the soldering iron on the controller loom, and melted 3 wires, one of which was the diff px sensor... So I fixed that thinking it'd do the trick, but no, even after that, it still was getting the CEL. WTF. Here's where it gets tricky. We prodded around with a multi meter, and the sensor is talking to the controller fine, and the controller is talking to the ECU fine, the wiring is all mint. We test drove the car, and everything performs beautifully, it drives fine, the controller works, and does it's thing! Yet, the CEL remains!!! I'm stumped, how can everything be fine, and working, but have a CEL anyway. I've done an installer on the 3-plug BE before, and didn't get this issue, and i've installed on ALL other types of TT, and did not get the issue. WTF. Idea's people? 2 ideas we have had is to get another controller and check that, and get another sensor, and check that. I don't think glens had a chance to do anything though.
