  1. Yeah, I'm on my third... never had much inclination to get a more recent model... though I did quite like the v10 when it first came out.
  2. I've never driven one and know they have quite a bit of weight over a gc8, but pretty sure they can be made to haul ass with a decent tune.
  3. Very expensive if you paid anywhere near retail... I hope they both stick well and last a long time!
  4. Just had a hydraulic handbrake mounted... need to hook it up still. Also had a fireproof lid for the spare wheel well made up so I can put a surge tank and external pump etc in there without having to seal the whole boot off. And finally had a proper diversion plate and radiator mount made... the radiator has until now just been sitting on rubber feet and cable tied in at the top... with foil tape to keep the air in.
  5. Before you buy anything talk to Neil at Neil's Wheels. He supplies lots of clubsports people in Wellington and will be able to give you good advice and prices. 027 248 3979
  6. You can strip all the interior trim you like apart from the front door cards... though you could make some lighter ones if you wanted. No need for a cert for a roll cage but it needs to be msnz homologated and you will need an msnz authority card. I don't know if any bolt in option is road legal or allowed to enter msnz evetns. Coilovers will need a cert obviously.
  7. You want the biggest gap you can get away with before it misfires. .8 should be fine as thunda said.
  8. The iridium plugs are long life... I use NGK V-Power 7s.
  9. Nice. Are you upgrading to go to e85 or just want a bigger range of injectors to choose from? Did you get the magical dampers?
  10. What injectors can you put in them? Are all top feed injectors the same fitment?
  11. Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec will be my next road/track tyre.
  12. On my wrx the seal on the PS pump reservoir lid leaks a bit and there is always residue around the area... I just spray it with brake cleaner every now and then... maybe that's all it is @pappu?... and maybe that's a common thing and not worth mentioning in a report? Just speculating.
  13. If companies that did inspections were held liable for anything that went wrong after the inspection, there would be none in business. It's completely unviable. I have learned that most mechanics can not be trusted completely. None will care for your car like you do. That's a very sad and pessimistic view I know. When I find a good mechanic I hold on to them with both hands.
  14. What exactly are you expecting the company that did the inspection to do? Pay you the difference of what you claim you could have bought the car for? Pay for any repairs you deem necessary? I really think your are being unrealistic and hopefully have learned not to purchase a car that you haven't looked at yourself or by someone you know you can trust. I think that all you could reasonably expect to get from them is a refund for their poor service and maybe an apology... if you care.
  15. And the running gear will feel heavier.
  16. Because it's still a race car with many race car modifications and used for racing?
  17. Look under the car... there isn't much to avoid. Exhaust and chassis rails is about all. You can actually put bolts through the chassis rails, but they would need to be really long. Make sure you use plates on the underside of the car as the steel is pretty thin.
  18. I would start by finding out what error code it is trying to tell you.
  19. I stayed out of that one once the real science nerds got involved... all I know is that methane smells really bad and methanol doesn't. The price has really shot up... I put some 98 in my rex today and regretted checking the price per litre... I will leave my head firmly in the sand next time.
  20. Go back to science class... you mean methanol.
  21. Depends on quantity. Nothing dangerous about making a bottle or two to drink
  22. Pretty sure you wouldn't be able to make it to sell commercially... other than that... I can imagine there will be any laws. We are not in a state of prohibition.
  23. If you can feel the heat from downpipe in the foot well then a possible scenario is that MAF is failing... causing your car to run lean... meaning more heat... and the extra heat is messing with the 02 sensor and the brake fluid sensor, which is pretty close to the turbo. Or maybe someone has removed the heat blanket from the firewall and removed all the heat shields from the downpipe and turbo???
  24. The MAF sensor can cause the mixture to be too lean or rich, but I don't know if it's going to throw an 02 error because of that? The 02 sensor is plumbed right in behind the turbo and has a limited operating temp range... a long hill on boost, might push it out of it's operating temp, which might cause it to throw an error... but I used to get the same thing happening in mine because the 02 sensor was missing. I would replace it personally... and the MAF sensor.
  25. I ran without an 02 sensor for a while in mine... no problems... apart from going up long hills... then an error code. Put a sensor back in and the error went.
