I guess its all about the workshops scale of investment , you would expect to pay more at a large franchise with its bigger overheads.
I have found i get the best deal from guys that have been trained at the franchise and then setup for themselves.
Fyi..A formula for charge out rates that we used when i had my workshop.
Hourly rate....33% mechanics hourly wage rate..
....33% to cover overheads,rent,power,insurance etc
....33% profit before tax for business owner.
So assuming $100 charge out rate the mechanic should be on $33 per hour before tax.Any mechanics out there being paid that rate?
From my experience 95% of what i drain out of my catch bottle is water with a thin layer of mayo floating on top.
Important to make the drain bung easy to get at and perhaps drill and lockwire if going racing.
I have drained approx 250 mls out of mine every 3 months or so,but as i said its mostly water.
Koom,,bobistheoilguy is a great read.second time i have read it.
Came across this in motor oil 108.Chapter 8.
"Water/coolent warms up in just afew minutes but oils take up to 30 minutes to get to just their operating temperature of 200 degrees F."
