  1. Does anyone have any advice on what to look out for when purchasing the current shape (BM) Legacy? I am currently looking at a 2010 2.5 Legacy. http://www.morrisoncars.co.nz/vehicle.aspx?stockno=6435 I will look at the usual stuff and yes I will make sure they do the timing belt and water pump etc for the 100,000km service. Just wanted to see if there was anything specific to this model to look out for. thanks Garrick
  2. I got called a Boy Racer in My standard Gravel Express. I had the family in the car and I was in my mid thirtys at the time. Only thing I did was turn the alarm off so I could wind down the windows in the car park. No silly behaviour at all. So my conclusion from this was that in the eye of the public any nice/ sporty car driven by some younger than the person observing is a boy racer.
  3. Sounds like the electrical connections on the back of the starter. Try cleaning the terminals and then refit. If this doesn\'t improve it then take it to the gargae and they will redo the brushes. You shouldn\'t require a new starter.
  4. Not a EJ series motor but my Omega (Leone) RX coupe has 300,000km on the clock and I have the no reason to belive that it\'s not the original motor. I have the reciepts from the previous owner who had clock up the majority of the kms.
  5. What sort of driving are you mainly doing? When I had my BH GTB i would get around the 450km per tank driving between Westport and Christchurch with some running around town. Lots of hills and corners to slow you down. I then drove down the Canterbury plains and back and got closer to 600km per tank. If I was at home in Westport I would get somewhere around 350-400km per tank as it was very short running so the motor rarely got to operating temperture. So you can see that the type of driving can have a drastic effect on fuel economy. If the type of driving hasn\'t changed then as above, do a good service and see if that improves the fuel economy
  6. Thats interesting. A 98 version 7 motor. considering they only came out in 2000.
  7. Should be around 12-13 lb standard IIRC
  8. I had one a few years back (black over silver). Differences were nudge bar (although some didn\'t have this) 2 tone paint job, different side skirts, Susppension lifted 40mm(??) standard imprezza seats (not WRX ones), spare tyre on the back (again not all of them like this) and yes the majority of them were auto\'s. As far as I know they were a pre-curser to the Forester model being released.
  9. I have one too. From factory they made 150hp or 115kw at the flywheel.
  10. There is a big difference in driving your car on the Canterbury plains to drivnig over to the West Coast. I was lucky to see 450km from a tank of gas in my old 98 TT wagon when coming through the hills. Where as as I did one trip from Christchurch to Fairlie and back and clocked up around 550km and still had a 1/6th of a tank remaining.
  11. 88 Leone RX Coupe 300,000km original motor. Still going strong. Has started to do the tap tap tap when warming up. Might also have helped that it is a NZ new one.
  12. Yeah for some reason sarcasism doesn't work on the keyboard. The photo was from back in 2001 the year Richard Burns won the WRC championship.
  13. Sharktale is the winner. Kerry Parker (right of photo)was one of the original founders of Clubsub somewhere around 1996 or 97. In the photo are Garrick (me), Geoff, Graham, Some rally car driver, Fiona (my wife), Daughter Kate, Nordy, Kerry. Back in those days Geoff use to regularly travel up from Welly to Hamilton an d Auckland for events. When petrol was around $1.00 a liter.
  14. Clubsub would have started around 96, 97. I've been around since 98.
  15. I give you all a clue. He is in this photo. also found a few photo's from old events that I attended back in the day. Graskahna near Thames. Full page spread feature in Performance Car magazine. Mine was the red WRX. Christchurch gang in the Lewis Pass. Snow over night.
  16. After seeing DRFVDR old photo's from an old AGM meeting in Taupo I started thinking. How many current club members know who founded Clubsub. I Know. But want to see how many other people on here know. I will post the answer later on this week if no-one knows the answer.
  17. Yeah my economy wasn't to flash either, car did 24 mile to the gallon if I remeber correctly. To much fun in the windy stuff. It was someone in an STI that won the economy run. something like 38 mile to the gallon. It was also a scavenger hunt.
  18. I think the gunmetal grey STI wagon was geoff's from wellington was a 98 STI. It would have been around 2000, 2001 when I live in Taupo. The shots outside the BP would have been before the economy run around Lake Taupo. I missed most of the activities for that weekend but I did do the economy run around the lake. I had a 93 red WRX at the time.
  19. Search for the new stig http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/stig-farm-exclusive-2010-11-5
  20. Thanks for the advice Guys got it fixed and yes I did round off the screw. Ended up taking the whole fan housing out to remove the rounded off screw. But all back together and going now.
  21. Thanks Guys Will try and get out to the shed during the week to find it. Found the image below which shows it nicely.
  22. Hi Guys I need your help. The heater fan only works on 4 in my 87 leone RX coupe. I have tried to find the resistor that controls the heater fan speed with no luck so far. Does anyone have any pictures of what this resistor looks like. I know it is up under the dash on the passengers side. Just want to avoid pulling to much of the heater out if I don't have to. I have already tried to swap the fan motor over so I know it's not attached to this. I have just scored a donor car over the weekend and the fan works on all speed in it so I want to swap them over. Thanks in advance Garrick
  23. Removed the Tail lights for the tailgatge on the Legacy to try and stop them filling up with water. Sealed them up with silicon. I then started on the Leone coupe as it leaks water in around the tail lights also.
  24. I been working on polishing up these 14 inch alloys to go on the RX coupe. 2 on the left have been done.
